Hi Guys,

I would like to ask those collectors who have purchased the Honour Bound Gold edition Tiger to complement their K&C collection.

Is the HB Tiger compatible with the K&C figures in terms of -

1) Any more size issues?

2) Paint compatibility? (K&C always have bright colours while HB use to have dull colours) Do they look funny if you match the Tiger with K&C crew?

(some pics will be much appreciated)

I had ordered the Honour Bound Gold edition Tiger, but undecided whether K&C crew or HB crew is better with the Tiger.

Pls help.

Sincerely,

Nasir Kasmani

Hi Nasir,

Personally I recommend the HB crew because I think they would fit better. When I placed my K&C figures beside the Tiger they looked fine but when compared directly to the HB crew they looked large (bulkier overall). The two are certainly compatible for diorama purposes, however. As for colors the HB pieces are certainly more subdued than the K&C (personally I prefer it). Another reasson I would recommend the HB crew is the ability to customize them. As you can see in my picture I chose to go with a reed green twill summer uniform as opposed to the black wool. Keep in mind, my Tiger is Army, not Waffen SS. If your tank is Waffen SS then the stock camo uniforms supplied by HB are quite suitable.

Hi fmethorst,

Thank you for posting the pics, the Tiger does look stunning!

I think you are right, the HB crew seems fit better with the tank. I also like its' sizes as its more slim, K&C figures sometimes appear that everybody is a bit chubby. I think the pale tone of paint has improved some what, i remember their previous figure line has perhaps more subdued paint job - winter ski troops, whermacht infantry etc..

The K&C figures i think appeal too in the brightness of colour, and sheer no of figures and poses available (HB has a very limited figure series comnpared to K&C)

I think i have a difficult choice to make!

Thank you again,

sincerely,

Hi fmethorst,

can i request you send some pics using K&C figures on the tank? (hopefully crew and tank riders if possible)

Thank you so much.

sincerely,

nasir kasmani.

I don't have any tank riders but I do have set WS099 "German Tank Crew" which includes a couple figures designed to sit on the tank.

Here are some pics:

Hi fmethorst,

thanks again for the kind postings,

the K&C does seems too bulky for the Tiger, a great pity as K&C have some very good poses.

My Tiger is Wittmann's Tiger 205, just recently (today) added by ana in the HB thread. But from the pics, im a bit concern with my wittmanns (i ordered 2 versions) as they appear too big for my tank. I hope in close inspection, im wrong though.

what do you think, does it appears unproportional?

It's hard to tell from the pictures. A couple of good reference points are the height from the ground to the top of the chassis (180 cm / 6 ft ) and the height of the turret including cupola measured from the top of the chassis (120 cm / 4 ft).

As for combining with K&C I think you can definitely make this work. Personally I think the WS099 set looks OK with it.

PS Nice choice on your Tiger :)

Hi fmethorst,

1)Thanks for the compliment on my Tiger choice.

I knew you had researched the Tiger when I saw your wonderful Tiger, and by recognizing Tiger 205, you had strengthened my perception of your knowledge.

I choose this because I never understood with the fascination of Wittmann's Tiger 007.

It's only point was the that its the Tiger where he died.

He achieved no prowess of note in this Tiger.

Should'nt we celebrate the tanks where he achieve such stunning victories and almost superman-like feats - Eastern Front Stug III (cant recall the unit no),white washed 88-kills Tiger S04, Villers Boccage Tiger 205?

When i remember Alexander the Great, i remember the vast empire and stunning victories over Mighty Persia, not being bedridden, dying from high fever.

Anyway, i identify, Tiger 007 with Heinz von Westernhagen, the charismatic Commander s.SS.Pz.Abt.101.

Wittmann was promoted to command s.SS.Pz.Abt.101. and was passed the Tiger 007 after Villers Boccage (where Tiger 205 was destroyed) when Von Westernhagen was on 6 mths home leave, due to recurring complications of the head injury.

2) I would like to complement you on your Tiger. From what i recall you are the first to order with HB when many others were skeptical, and after seeing your Tiger, has convinced me, and many others, to purchase the HB Tigers. For being the Pioneer purchaser, i thank you.

3) Is the measurement you passed me meant for the late Tiger? (as earlier Tiger model have higher Cupola)

Pls correct me if i'm wrong, coz if this is meant for the late model of Tiger, then the standing Wittmann is definitely out of proportion, he'll be like 10-12 feet!

Sincerely,

nasir kasmani.

Hi Nasir,

Thanks for the nice comments.

The measurements are by Henschel dated 9 February 1944. The new style cupola appeared starting with turret 392 in July 1943.

I don't think the Wittman figure is that far off. When standing on the ground beside the tank his head should roughly be be level with the top of the chassis with some allowance for the hat. Inside the cupola he is standing on the seat so it doesn't look that far off either.
