John has done a fantastic job on his latest bit of WWII armor, the German Sturmgeschutz III Ausf. G (Initial Production) model. It looks great in the classic panzer grey and features his usual attention to detail and functionality.
Given the model is intended to represent a vehicle from the Grossdeutschland Panzer Division during the Third Battle of Kharkov on the Eastern Front in February-March 1943, I felt it would look best in a snowy scene. There is photographic evidence from this period of German AFVs in their panzer grey base color without whitewash operating in snowy conditions, so my scene, never mind John’s model, is accurate…
The crew and accompanying MG team figures are from War Park’s Kharkov range. The base uses JG Miniatures products with snow powder.
Pic of my diorama base, sans the Stug III model. I’m really happy with how the snow effect came out and wanted to show that off.
