Hedgerow Fighting in Normandy (1 Viewer)

All those photos are just excellent. Thanks for putting in the effort, I really enjoyed looking at them all. They really give a sense of what the actual fighting would've been like!

We are not the inventors of the Diorama or the Diodrama, but we have encouraged collectors to give it a try, with as much realism as possible, we have also tried to encourage the manufacturers to make their products as realistic as possible. I think there is so much more satisfaction to the collector when you can display your collection in an accurate historic setting.

Many have said our elaborate scenery detracts from the collection. I disagree, the setting is what it is and the soldiers and vehicles are a part of it, not all of it.

I also dont think much of the new stuff produced goes up in value like old K&C stuff, so we treat them as Military Replicas not collectibles, we weather them and detail them to make them even more realistic, this is where we get our satisfaction.

But that is our opinion and there are many ways to enjoy this hobby, meanwhile we will continue to push the envelope as far as we can. But we can see the art of the diorama is becoming much more popular as of late.

If you have any diorama construction questions contact us here or on our website, we will also build accessories or entire scenes, and we just produced a decal set for those of you who like to modify vehicles (See Treefrog Classified 1/30th decals ) Alex

Just a quick question on this diorama pic. How many hours did it take to complete ^&confuse

Hand making the trees took the most time, the scene is on a foam base with real dirt glued on with a 50/50 mix of Elmers and water with a little detergent in it to spread the glue. The mounds of the hedgerows are foam stacked on top of each other, glued together and rasped down with a file to give contour. The foliage is all kinds of stuff including real moss we dug up in my yard.

When we place the figures we always put the same dirt we glued to the base loose around the base of the figures ( A MUST ). OH destroying the Sherman took a long while. Then the photography.

I always let a scene sit for a while, go work on something else and come back to it several times and make changes. This scene sat for about a month. The trees, explosion and the destroyed Sherman were made before we started the scene. So you have to add that all together.

It is a lot of time........ I am happy that companies have come out with mats an backdrops etc. and we use them too...But this is the real deal and everyone should try it. It gives greater satisfaction. Alex

I have to agree with Frank...This is your best composition in this series of photos. Effective use of caspia and moss to simulate the hedgerow and ground cover too. Very nice.
All the Best,
Ken
