Hello all,

I'm new to this forum but have been collecting toy soldiers for about 12 years. I was very happy to trip across this site as my interest in toy soldiers has been recently rekindled. I collected pretty heavily, for me anyway, early on but have slowed in recent years.

The majority of the collection is Trophy stuff although I certainly don't limit myself to just that. The addition of a wife and kids did slow my collecting down quite a bit but I still like to pick up the odd piece here and there.

The attached pictures are of a group (There are six total) I aquired awhile back at a show. They looked like Trophy to me but lacked the Trophy mark on the base. They did have a D though so I thought perhaps they were early Dragon Crest.

I should hope they are one of the two otherwise I'll be quite embarrased having posted this in the Trophy section. Regardless, this seemed the section to use so...

Any input/thoughts would be most welcome.

Cheers!
~Dan

Definitely Trophy/Dragon Crest and I believe from the Boxer Rebellion.

I think, but can't swear, that I've seen something like this on eBay.

Martyn should be able to identify this set.

Hello,
nysoldiers is correct, the figures are Trophy/Dragon Crest. I have 3 sets of the same figures; the blue on blue you have pictured, a set of blue vest, white pants, and the final set is dark blue vest with red pants. Sets were comprised of 6 figures.

I have a figure like that. They are Algerian Zouaves hence the dark complexions. They are either from the Boxer or Crimean series.

I just went and checked and there's an English seller on eBay, muppet1947, currently selling sets like the ones shown by Dan.

Definitely Dragon Crest Boxer Rebellion

As Brad rightly says there are indeed three figures on Ebay UK now

Are these early sets. When I first saw the sole figure with the sword, I thought maybe Trophy had made pirates of the Spanish Main.

Those figures are from either DC21 or DC22, Dragon Crest French Turcos of the Boxer Rebellion. One set had white pantaloons and the other light blue, but I can't remember which.

Hi Dave

The only set I have is DC20 - NATAL NATIVE CONTINGENT and, unfortunately, I don't have any catalogues for Dragon Crest

Thanks for the replies. I picked these up at a Westcoaster back when I was stationed in California. There was no box and the guy who sold them to me was unsure of the maker.

At the time the only Boxer set I had was the French Chasseurs D' Afrique (BS39). This looked like it might complement the set and the price was right so....

Anyway, thanks. I look forward to posting some pix of other items in my collection in the future.

Cheers,

Thanks Martyn. Same to you! Looks like I'm starting my holiday early this year so I may be able to get some pixs up over the next couple of days. Surfing through the threads on the forum has been getting me all sorts of fired up. The bride is getting nervous as I keep going back to the display cabinet and then to my computer with side trips to the stash of Trophy boxes in the basement, mumbling to myself all the while. She knows the bite of the "bug" very well. Of course, I owe some of my nicer Trophy sets to gifts from her, so... :)

Cheers,
~Dan
