8am on Friday and I find myself the only registered member of the TF forum on-line. Several quests, but I'm all alone as a member. Does everyone know something I don't? Hello...hello...is anyone out there...{sm2} -- Al

We’re stuck in a time warp! {eek3}
Never had that happen before. As I realized I was all alone, the theme from The Twilight Zone started running through my head. It only lasted a few moments as other members signed on before I even finished my post.^&grin -- Al

Have you washed your socks recently????:rolleyes2::rolleyes: jb :D

Hi Al,
I had that happen a couple of times when I was up very late (or very early, depending on your point of view).
Yes, it is a little spooky since the Forum is a World Wide / 24 hour a day operation.

Still ... you were special ... if only for a few seconds ....{sm4}

It was just so odd. Been a member since June, 2008 and have never been the only sign-on, even at such really off hours as 3am. Never really thought about it as this is a world-wide forum with 3400+ members, but, for that one instant before I signed on at 8am, NO ONE was signed on, anywhere. Just too weird. All is well now as I have come to grips with the vastness of it all, the utter emptiness, and the fact that it was simply the only moment in time when I ruled supreme.:rolleyes2:^&grin -- Al

In all seriousness it doesn’t seem as if members are posting as much as they used to in the past.

According to CNN yesterday was "The End of the Internet". So perhaps that explains it. LOL. I haven't posted as much in recent years. My enthusiasm waxes and wanes although I usually check in once a day. My daughter was also diagnosed with leukemia last January at the age of 13. She was perfectly healthy one day and the next we are at the hospital getting the news. So it is has been a very long and stressful year. Thankfully she is now doing well. Visiting forums like this one with familiar banter and folks has always been a welcome respite from those types of situations.

Hi Combat....Very sorry to hear of your daughter's diagnoses, that's just crazy to be that young and have a illness like that come upon her, glad to hear she is doing well and hopefully better days ahead in the new year.

Ditto.

Very sorry to hear about that Doug, I too am glad to hear she's doing well, all the best to you and your family regarding this situation.

Doug, 2017 has been an awful year. Very sorry to hear about your daughter's illness and wish her a full recovery/remission. I won't be sorry to see 2017 end. -- Al

Sorry to hear about your daughter Doug but glad she’s doing better.

I am glad to hear your daughter is doing well. This must have been the scariest year of your life. I can’t even imagine what you and your family have been through. I wish you all the best.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words. I don't usually post personal matters particularly unpleasant ones since this is a place to get away from that. My daughter was in the hospital for approximately two months at the beginning of the year. I had no experience whatsoever with that situation. It's been very humbling to see not only her but many, many other children in that situation of all ages. And so many people that volunteer their time and talent to brighten the days of some child in the hospital. I really had no idea. College students, retired folks, and many others that help them pass the time. And so many kids with cancer. Some days the place is full. I would sometimes leave the hospital where every kid had cancer and go to my son's school a short distance away where every kid was healthy and the contrast was always startling. All the more so since I was the only one there aware of it. The treatment of childhood leukemia is a real medical miracle. I knew little to nothing about the disease except to the extent of reading about some person having passing away from it. An interesting article about the folks who have saved the lives of many children over the decades including my daughter:

Good luck to you both - I know what it is like to get a diagnosis like this. Really hits hard - especially to one so young. Keep thinking positive - JB.

Doug, so sorry to hear of your daughter's diagnosis and very glad to hear she's now doing well ... hope she continues to get better with each passing day.

B.
