Good evening,
My name is Jez, I am a serving member of the Royal Air Force.
Whilst helping my father recently clear out his garage i discovered my cousins and my old collection of toy soldiers (mainly my cousins). I inherited these from my uncle in the 80s when my cousin unfortunately passed away.
I have no idea what i have, they may be worth nothing, however there may be a gem or two amongst them.
The only distinguishing marks are Deetail written underneath the paras and 1 other.

I am happy to follow any forum protocol and answer further questions.
I apologise in advance if i have already broken any.
I am a collector or vintage Star Wars figures and an active member of SWFUK, so i understand the frustration when one post wonders rock up and contribute nothing.
My intention is to value these figures and hopefully sell them on to a collector (if they are worth anything), if not i'll give them to my local charity shop.

Welcome to the forum, Jez, and thank you for serving your country!

The figures with "Deetail" marked under the base are made by Britains, in their Deetail range. William Britain & Co was the premier maker of hollowcast toy soldiers for many years (figures cast in such a way to make a hollow and therefore, lighter figure), and in the post-war years, they branched into plastics. The Deetail range was one product, with plastic parts (mostly) and metal bases. Britains also produced a line of plastic figures called Swoppets, which were made in such a way that parts could be swapped out between figures. I think you've got some of those in there, too.

Many of the other all-plastic figures look like Airfix 1/32 figures, at a quick glance. But I'm sure other members who specialize in plastic figures will know more and be able to say better what they are.

It certainly is a broad mix of figures.
Proud to serve, 17.5 years so far!
 
Jez, I suggest you keep them and even display some. You might miss them someday and end up buying expensive metal soldiers trying to recapture your childhood, like I did.^&grin
 
Go for Broke, thank you for your advice. It certainly echos what I say to folk who join SWFUK looking for selling advice for their childhood star wars figures. I definitely can't keep them, I'm already pushing my luck with another collection!

Can I ask...where did you get those cabinets?
 
Thanks! I see in the middle cabinet that there are more shelves - I didn't see that they can be ordered - is that the same cabinet.

As noted, those are Detolfs, about $60. I have two of them. However, they are not completely airtight. Relatively simple to put together though.

Hi, Jez! It's good, then, that they'll go to collectors.

Regarding posting the auctions, your intuition is correct, there is a Classified section, they might be better posted there. Unless I'm speaking out of turn, mods?

Normally any eBay posts go in the classified section, but as this was a continuation of an existing thread I think we're OK here...{sm4}
 
Well, since the cabinet banter came up. I recently went to the Pandora store where they sell charms for ladies bracelets and necklaces. Man, do they have the coolest cabinets that the glass door swings up and are lit inside. Anyone have a clue where I can get some of those?

Jewelry store closings. I'm not trying to be a smart-aleck, I know a guy in another forum who got some very nice display cabinets for his models, at a store that was going out of business.

There was a tip offered in that discussion, too, to look around back at department stores, when you go shopping, because you might find they've thrown out some display cases. It can't hurt to ask.

The soldiers sold on Saturday night for £23. The seller hasn't contacted me yet or paid so i may find myself relisting them at the end of the week :rolleyes:
