Just judging from a brief look at the two clips I would say it seems to be a 'OH! the poor misunderstood Germans' (of the Nazi era) type of doco, best to give it a miss I think.
Wayne.

I have it on cd but haven't watched it yet. I have read the book same title by Thomas Goodrich and after reading the book I am not sure I want to. Summary, yes it did happen to the Germans, and others caught up in the final conquest of Germany, postwar, and some surrounding countries. It is perhaps the most brutal, barbaric and saddest chapters in modern history, and a real eye opener in Allied leadership, some Allied forces, and postwar patricipants, involved in the conduct of the war and postwar Germany.

Better have a strong stomach if you decide to read the book. I had a hard time sleeping for days reading and into weeks afterwards. It is the most unsettling and disturbing material I have ever read.

RPZ, I checked Amazon for the book and it sounds brutal. Even the film sounds horrific. I may get the book. When I read history, I'm always grateful for my life, to not have suffered. Our daily problems seem petty in comparison.

RPZ, I just wanted you to know I read the book. It was gruesome, but I couldn't put it down. It amazes me how people can be so cruel.

I watched this. It is a very poor excuse for a documentary film. It has a very pro-Nazi bias throughout. There are sequences from Inglorious Basterds which is given as examples of cruel treatment of German troops by Brad Pitt...

It seems biased (the book), but I feel there is a lot truth to it too. My take on it, is mankind is the most vicious/malicious animal on the planet.
