HELP - Deauville Model Kit ?? (1 Viewer)

Here is the finished Deauville Models Boer War City of London Imperial Volunteer.

Anybody else have any of these figures to show? I would like to see the Boer War nurse that was mentioned in Garratt's book.

Ken,

Didn't Squadron have their own range of figures?

Scott

I know this is an old thread, but if anyone is still interested you can visit the site here: http://www.mirofsoft.com/nostalgia-old-catalog-pdf/

Under the New Hope listings there are several downloads available. The one of which is just titled "New Hope" shows pics of the figures that were distributed by New Hope from The Old Guard in the USA. On page #5, figures NH34 and NH33 are the Boer war nurse and the CIV figures.

Enjoy,
Chuck

I remember this set by Deauville
In those years (70ies) I painted another one ( one of my very first step in figures' painting )

The confusion between New Hope Design and Deauville sometime, it's because New Hope was the official distributor in Europe for Deauville

Thanks Chuck. That is the CIV figure under the New Hope umbrella. I guess the question might be was it a Deauville figure sold as a New Hope or vice versa?

My guess would be that they were originally Deauville figures that were distributed by New Hope but I have no proof one way or another. I just revived the thread because it shows a good pic of the nurse that you were interested in seeing.

Yes, thanks for showing the nurse. That figure would go well with the CIV man and some Wilson Edwards figures I have. She doesn't appear in the Dutkins catalogue however.

Of note with that brochure is the mention on the first page that they were releasing one hundred new figures each year- that is a lot of figures.

Keep in mind that New Hope had several sculptors working with them. I read recently that Charles Stadden said they he could sculpt the master for a single 54mm figure in a weekend. {eek3} My guess would be that when you have talented people like that that one hundred figures would not be so daunting of an amount at it first seems.

An old thread I know however early on in the thread I was discussing the figures that Roger Saunders had sculpted.

This video was posted on the MilMod site and thought it may be of some interest here as it shows Roger at work sculpting Hornet heads-

A very unassuming and talented man.
