I have quite a few of these most are numbered like this or say Germany or something on the bottom of them. Any one know what brand they are so I can try & identify them & what they are worth.

They're definitely composition figures (a mix of kaolin, sawdust and glue, pressed into a mold with a wire armature embedded as a "skeleton", and then fired to cure and dry), and my first thought is Elastolin or Lineol, though I may be wrong and they may be from another maker. Elastolin and Lineol were the biggest and best-known, but there were others. If the labels are all in English, then I suspect they were made for the tourist trade. I'll check O'Brien's "Collecting Foreign-Made Toy Soldiers" as a start.

Prost!

Thank You I will search that book to when I have the chance.

Regarding your composition figures, I just saw this auction at eBay for a group of similar figures, including some of the ones you have, I think:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Miniature-M...t-TEN-3-/311288993365?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276

The seller thinks they're Elastolin, but notes that there is no specific marking to confirm that. She notes that the labels have designations that sound like the ones you depicted.

I checked in O'Brien, and unfortunately, there are precious few photos of any civilian composition figures. Most of the photos of non-military composition figures are of animals from zoo, farm or Western series that Elastolin or Lineol produced. There is a list of figures by description, but unfortunately, it doesn't include descriptions of any figures in international folk dress.

Prost!

I found these today & was able to identify them pretty easy. I thought they were neat so just figured I would share them. I just learned they fire not sure if them parts are up there or not. I am getting tired of running up to the 3rd story my knees are not liking me.

I believe these are both William Britain. They should be marked as such if they are.

I know this has nothing to do with toy soldiers but I figured some one might know who made this steam engine. I cant find a name on it. I am keeping it just because I think its cool but would like to know more about it.

Where's Louis these days, when we need him? I believe this is of German make, tinplate, made to go with Elastolin or Lineol back in the day. But that's just off the top of my head.

Prost!

It is a thinner metal more like a tin. It was on a shelf with some manoil and barclay stuff. I was hoping he had some kind of order to this stuff. He had a hand written sticker with I think number 50 on the back. I am still trying to make sense of the stickers I know they mean something. I know what they mean on the barclay and manoil now but I can't find d a reference to them on the elastolin and lineol stuff.

Agreed that it was made to go with German composition figures. Saw one on eBay that other day, but can't remember the maker . . . you might do an eBay search under "artillery", "cannons", or "guns".

I searched Ebay this morning& looked in the previously sold stuff to. I did not find one exact but I did find some tinplate that looked close so I would have to guess that is what it is maybe just a different model year than the few I seen on there.
