I am trying to sell some toy soldiers, about 1000 in all. Most I can identify the maker and what the soldiers are supposed to be. I have a set of Zulus with numbers on the base (ZW 701 for one057.JPG096.JPG). I don't know what company made them. Also have some other guys, an Oriental is shown, with numbers on the base, etched in the lead.

Can you post a side on image too, that will help,

John

Are those Imperial though ? The box is but I seriously doubt the authenticity of the figures.

Four of the Zulus were made by ANI, a southern California company that is no longer in business. At one time, ANI had a store in monrovia and then in Glendale before Paul K. had a heart attack and retired. The figures are actually knock-offs of Hinchliffe Models Ltd Zulus, sculpted by Cliff Sanderson. There was some sort of copyright dispute about these figures in the 1990s. I originally had more than two dozen ANI Zulus and 24th Foot figures, but sold them years ago at the West Coaster.

Hi there,

Can you post a better photo of the Oriental, who is a Boxer figure but I cant tell the maker because the markings are out of focus for me.

Are those the ones with the numbers on the bottom of the stands?

Thanks.

Sorry, my pics were all too big. Trying to put both Zulu and Oriental on here.

Yes, I also think that the Zulus are Hinchcliffe, and going on their catalogue and one of the line drawings, you have 5 of the 6 figures.

The bases are what pointed me to them as the maker.

I didn't know about the association later on in the US with ANI, but that seems very logical after seeing what ANI are selling on their EBay page too.

Any idea on the Orientals? There are others that are similar position charging that are not Orientals w/ similar markings on the base. Figure they are all made by the same maker but don't know who it is.

Roger that, gentlemen! I have his auctions bookmarked at eBay. He has an interesting selection at any given time, representing a number of figure makers, both original figures or kits, and repros or reissues.

Prost!
