Hi

I bought these a 6 soldiers kneeling a few years ago (no box or certificate), and wanted to know are they a set?
The man on the horse I did have one with a brown helmet like the footmen but unfortunately he got damaged (dont ask, still unhappy about it).
So I put the other one I had with the white helmet. I have no idea when I bought that one either. So no idea what set he is meant to come with.

Any help would be appreciated.

Going on the colours of the uniforms and the lack of small arms on the soldiers, I'd suggest they are Royal Artillery gunners, maybe from a mountain gun set?

The gunners are all posed for kneeling gun drill and the one on the left seems to be holding a rammer under his right arm.

I hope that helps?

I'd second that. It looks like one also has binos to observe the fall of shot.

The gunners are part of a Maxim Gun set, probably GC 6; you’re missing the Maxim gun. The mounted figure is part of the Hong Kong range, HKP 3.

Hi

Thankyou for all your responses. Its much appreciated.
Without any reference material its quite hard to know what you have especially since this range of soldiers seem to of been broken up over time...

BTH - I love these really old figures they have a simplicity & quaintness to them that I love.

Jazzem, when you say these figures come with a maxim gun - I actually have two sets with the maxim guns (no box no certificate but still like them). So looks like I need to find a maxim gun for the set now lol.

Finally would it be possible to share the PDF with these figures please. I totally understand if you do not want too. my email address is jfme0620@gmail.com

Again everyone thank you for the responses.

I don’t at all mind sharing the leaflet containing the figures. Although I have almost all of the K & C leaflets and brochures, this one I downloaded from the Sager site so it may not come out in optimal quality.

I would have suggested you access it from Sager but he hasn’t kept up this part of the site.

The brochure has the above figures as well.

Love your figures by the way.

The kneeling figures could have been from either the Royal Artillery Maxim Gun set or the Royal Artillery Field Gun set. The mounted Royal Artillery Officer is a separate set. Here are photos of these sets from my collection:

The mounted officer may be part of an artillery set but he or one very like him is listed in one of the brochures as HKP 3.

Yes, there is a very similar mounted Hong Kong Police Officer, but that one has a green and yellow band around his pith helmet. This one is listed as RA3.

Here is the text from the K&C book about these sets:

The "King & Country Field Force" consisted of Royal Artillery and Indian Army Nine Pound Field Guns and Maxim Guns with crews, as well as Indian Army medics attending to wounded Highlanders. The Royal Artillery and Indian Army poses were identical, with the differences being heads with clean shaven faces and khaki pith helmets for the Royal Artillery officers and men, and bearded heads wearing khaki with colored stripes and brown topped turbans for the Indian Army officers and men. The officers stand with binoculars in their right hands pointing with their left hands, or with maps in their left hands pointing with their right hands. The firing crewman stands with his hands held forward to operate the Maxim gun. The kneeling crewman all kneel on their right knee, with their left hand resting on their left knee, and their right hands either holding binoculars, holding a canteen or hanging down by their right knee. The medic was a repaint of the kneeling crewman with the canteen.

The Royal Artillery crews wore the following uniforms: Brown knee boots (officers) or ankle boots with puttees (crew), khaki pants, navy blue tunics, with white belts, pouches suspenders and cross-belts. The uniforms worn by the Indian Army crews consisted of Brown knee boots (officers) or ankle boots with puttees (crew), khaki pants and tunics, brown belts, pouches and suspenders and white cross-belts. The Indian Army medics were attired as the Indian crewmen, but with red topped turbans, and white arm bands with red crosses.

The Field Force sets were: RA1, a Royal Artillery nine pound field gun with crew - three kneeling crewmen and one standing officer with binoculars ($89); RA2, a Royal Artillery Maxim gun with crew - two kneeling crewmen, one standing gunner and one standing officer with map ($79); IA1, an Indian Army nine pound field gun with crew - three kneeling crewmen and one standing officer with binoculars ($89); IA2, an Indian Army Maxim gun with crew - two kneeling crewmen, one standing gunner and one standing officer with map ($79); and IM1 - an Indian Army medic with a prone wounded Highlander (both Khaki and Red coated Highlanders available) ($29).

From the blue coats and red cuffs and collars I could see they were Royal Artillery, but didn't think they would be manning a maxim gun becasue that was primarily an infantry weapon. The picture of the figures with the gun confirms my suggestion, thanks for showing us that Louis, and for the description.

Wow they look brilliant... Looks like I need to find a K&C Maxim or field artillery gun... Which will impossible I suspect.

Louis and Jazzeum thanks for the reply.
Louis thanks for sharing your pictures, they look great.

I actually own one of the HK police mounted set... But mine is on a black horse.
