Help! Who makes these figures? (2 Viewers)

Are there any markings anywhere on these figures or under the bases? Are they metal or plastic? The Russians' bases make me ask that question.

At a quick glance, the Russians (your first photo) look to me to be of newer manufacture than the other group of soldiers. By that, I mean that they look to me like they were made in the past 20 years. The others look like they could be older.

I've seen similar sets of Russians, unmarked, unfortunately, sold by Sergei Ilyashenko in his Lead Army line. They came from one of the numerous Russian makers of castings, and were probably then painted by another shop and packaged and sold.

That's everything off the top of my head. I can check my references when I get home and see what I can find.

I agree.

My best bet is that they are ARTS (Anglo-Russian Toy Soldiers) figures of the 1905 Russo-Japanese War. We are talking 1990's manufacture. Tony Pope had something to do with this company, as I recall. Last I heard of Tony he was living in the Czech Republic, selling figures on eBay.

The range was never very big, and they didn't last too long. These can look a lot better if a decent painter gets to them.

I can offer no comments on the American Sailors other than to say that they are NOT ARTS figures.

The Russian infantry are from the Russo-Japanese war. I bought a set of russians and a set of japanese infantry and also six figures from the Russian revolution three whites and three reds.
The brand was "Saint George Cross" I bought them in Burlington in NYK at 2001. regards. RFL
