Yo Troopers, anyone know what type of packaging is inside this set ie; received a set this morning, had its outer box but inside to keep the troopers in place was a white sheet of plastic cut out in places. These sets usually have foam to cover them, so is this right or wrong. Also there is a small loose piece about 1/2" long with a gold painted hook on the end cannot see where it is suppose to go, nothing seems to be missing off the troopers. Any info would be a great help.
Bernard.

Here is a link to a photo of that set , It was the first ltd ed britains
set I ever owned [at the ripe old age of about 10 ] its history now though.
Hope this helps

Yo Trooper Vandilay, thanks mate, but was asking what covers the troopers inside the box foam or plastic, also if you have another look just put photo's up of another #5290 on ebay and its totally different, so I am really confused now. The set on ebay shows four pipers, and a standard bearer which is not in my set or yours, need some major help here guys as to why the sets are different.

The set on the right has the wrong pipers ,one looks like an irish piper and the one on the left is I think from a seafourth highland piper that goes with the flagbearer wearing the wolesly helmit from the same ltd ed set . The other 2 matching pipers are I think scots guard pipers so the set is just a
a combination of 4 different sets.

As for the cover I think it had a molded plastic
cover that sat loosely on top and then box and outer sleeve

Yo trooper Vandilay, cheers mate, was getting worried I had the wrong set. Will have to find out what the small loose piece is for, only got back from the UK lastnight so have to get myself sorted out, got to open the Hamley's set of the Hussars now, isn't it all go lol.

No Problem Bernard , I hope you like the Hussars that and the Queens company grenadier guards are my favourite Hamleys sets.
cheers Rob

Someone changed the pipers in the set on the right -- clearly not the correct configuration. Probably a novice trying to piece sets back together.

5290.jpg

My set came with a piece of foam rubber on top of the figures to cushion them.

Dick

There are two on Ebay UK right now -- the one being sold by Chris49 looks like the correct version.

Good luck.

Doh , the mistake I made was isolating the 2 correct pipers as scots guards, so its a combination of 3 sets .
I realy didnt like that style of packaging ,way too much chance of chipping
paint when you take them out.

The plot thickens ,I thought it was the piper and standard bearer from
this set ,the piper from the royal irish regiment and the rest are correct ?

Another nice set for your collection Bernard. One that I must get as well.

Can you post some pics of the Hamleys Hussars when you get a chance please.

Scott

I get four sets as follows: It is appears the the set on the right does have a standard bearer from the Seaforth Highlanders (1), a piper from the Irish Guards (2), a piper from the Gordon Highlanders(3), and two pipers from the correct set (4). For a total of a mixture of 4 sets. It's missingthe 2 drummers. The three horseman appear to be correct.

Yo Trooper, this is the photo Rob (vandilay) put up to show the set. I had never seen it before, so had to have it, lucky to get it with only 1000 sets issued had to pay £150.00 for it which was the original selling price so was happy with that.

Yo Dick, thanks mate will mail you later, still trying to get myself to together, you know what I mean.
Bernard.

Yo Dick, it was untill I took them out of the box, four of the arms are broken off, really gutted about this, because as far I know noboby ever did a model of these regiments not even Old Britains. The set was issued in 2000 with the bigger horses and plastic saddles but they are really nice, but they will have to go back at that price, or its the old glue remedy??.
Bernard.

The only other Scot Dragoon set I know of the is the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards band made by Britains. It's in the 2001 catalogue. 13pc set Item # 00102.

Steadfast also have a band on their website. They have it listed as Scots Grey band but the uniform I think is the RSDG. However when I tried to do a google on a mounted RSDG band I couldn't find anything.

Do the RSDG have a mounted band?

Here's a pic of the figure (and they use Britains horses) :)

Yo Trooper Brit, the Scots Greys & RSDG are the same regiment, they just call them the Greys they used to wear a grey beret. Old Britains did a Scots greys mounted band set #1720 but not a cheap set only 8 pieces as well.
Bernard.
