Hi all

This is mi first post here.
I have been lurking this forum since Polar Bear kindly posted some of my works here.
I would like to to show you a little more of my work.
These figures belong to a FIW range released by Thunderbolt Mountain miniatures.
Figures are masterly sculpted by Tom Meier and are scaled as 1/48 (roughly 32mm tall).
There is an article about these figures in Toy Soldier Collector magazine, there you can see greens of these amazingfigures.
These are the first four figures I have painted of the original eight released.

Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Welcome to the forum. It is great to have you posting here. Those FIW figures are outstanding. Your painting skills make even small scale figures appear monumental.

Well done, great painting.

Yes I also have read the article in TSC, and saw the figures there, together with the French troops.

I recently painted a set of 3 Indians, so check out my painting too.

I have postioned them on larger bases with some foliage to make a relasitic look.

Angel,
Welcome to the forum.I had seen pictures of your work and been on your blog.Your painting is absolutely fantastic.I can not comprehend how you can do these small figures so well.I had these figures but sold them and now I got them back when I traded something. Some day I will get them painted.I hope Meier does some more. And John your no slouch either as yours are very nice too.

Welcome over Angel, did you finish the Maiwand diorama?

Martin

Hi all and thanks for comments.
Great to find you here Martin. No the Maiwand dio is still pending. I've finished, the terrain and base and all the conversion work (Bobby included) so it's "just" straightforward painting.
I'm dealing with finding the apropiate Kakhi colour: It needs to be accurate, realistic looking and eye catchy at the same time. If I sort this out soon I hope I can finish it by mid April. This diorama is for me (at least by now) but I have some commision works going on so it has to wait it turn :rolleyes2:. Will send you pictures of painting progress (if I get a free second).

Thanks a lot for asking Martin.

I read on Thunderbolt's message board that Meier would like to do some British infantry and maybe create Braddock's battle. This would be great but he js a very busy man and I believe his passion is for fantasy. He made these figures for his son and probably the only way we will ever see it is if the little guy bugs his dad to do it.:D

Must say that I am really impressed by the quality of both the sculpting and painting of the figures exhibited on this thread. I am awed that such detail can be attained in the sculpting and then be so well highlighted by painting. It is such a small scale that I didn't think this could be done. Congratulations to all, a job REALLY well done. -- Al

I have these figures in my "to paint soon" ranks of the grey army- they are fantastic!!

Even though these figures are "not my thing" - (I like glossy toy soldier style) - I do recognise skill and artistry when I see it. They are SO good - and I applaud the sheer detailed perfection of the painting. Marvelous figures by a miniature artist. Well done - I simply couldn't do this type of work - but you can - please keep it up. johnnybach.:salute::

Hey Mark thats funny Stuff! but when i bought mine originally I bought 2 complete sets...an dsold you one set-which you sold....and then bought again......lol?
something about these i guess- the one warrior actuallty has a scalp in his hand-if painted that way.

I bought one set, sold them to Wendy. Then I got the set from you in our trade, sold them to John Long,a noted painter on Timelines, then got a set as a gift from a friend.I'm keeping these as it seems it was meant for me and these figures to be together.^&grinAlso they were a gift so I can't get rid of them.I'm hoping (praying} that he makes some more.50-60 figures having indians,British regulars,Rangers, and french colonial troops would be great. Can't do much with the 8.

I was on Tom Meier's blog last night and in a entry from September 2011 it shows a sculpt of another French infantryman. One comment was a question if he was going to to a French coureur des bois and he said yes but wanted to do more indians first. This is very good news for those who collect his figures. The bad news is that you don't know how long it will take him to sculpt these and put them in production as he seems to be a very busy man.We can only hope that it won't be far off.
