Jeff...

they really are very nice...I like the cloth...very lightweight...

Rick O'Brien is very nice to work with...

they come really krinkled...really wind blown...

I opened mine up quite a bit as I chose Clan flags with script on them...

I'm curious...does anybody know if this is Latin or Gaelic...

and can anybody translate those flags for me...

Lord Oglivy's Regiment...

Mike,
Would you say they're better than the originals?

Pete

Better?

hahahaha...:D....ahhhhhhhhhhh Pete....:D...you're killing me...

that's so subjective...

"in the eye of the beholder" as they say...

I don't know...honestly...they are very nice...they really are...

they are totally different...

the originals are resin or metal...

these are cloth or paper...

I think they are more "realistic" than the factory ones...

the cloth is what I chose...and it looks more realistic than the factories smooth metal or resin...

the wind blown effect is more realistic...

you can crumple these things anyway you want...

for $8-$10...you can convert a factory flag bearer figure to a new Clan figure by swapping flags....

THAT'S A MAJOR BONUS...

they are different from anything I have ever seen...and your options are limited...

he will put your face on the flag if you want...

Nicholas...chime in when you're ready...

Are they better??????

Actually I've met Rick at a couple of the London shows....nice guy. I thought the flags were good then (subjectively), but it's always good to get a second (objective) opinion!!!!!!

I suspect latin..the Jacobites were Roman Catholic.

Very nice Michael and I see they have the 1st & 2nd Battalion of the 24th foot (just a shame we don't have any flag bearers yet.)

Nemo me impune lacessit = No one shall impune me and get away with it (latin). The motto of the order of the thistle and of quite a few of the old Scottish regiments.

okay Pete...you forced me to opine...and yes...he was very pleasant on the phone and most helpful in doing the research I needed...

They are all in either Latin or English!

The rest translates as follows:

Chisholm clan: "Feros ferio" = "I am fierce with the fierce".

Lord Ogilvy's Regimental Colours (actually Sir James Kinloch's colours - he was the commander of the 2nd battalion): "Sursum Tendo" = "Hold upward"

Lord Lovat's Colours (actually Charles Fraser of Inverallochy's colours - he was the commander of one of Lovat's Battalions): "Sine Sanguine Victor" = "A bloodless conqueror"
