I really like the flag on this Highlander...

I have not received it yet...it's in transit...

but I'm dying to see this flag up close...

Looks like you have a great addition on the way Michael:cool:

Cheers

Martyn:)

Michael mate,
Just sitting here opening a shipment of JJD and the Jacobites are getting better and better. The Cameron Standard Bearer (JR11) is truely one of John's finest pieces. Can't wait to see your first dio with this set in it.
If the two Sudan figures are a preview of things to come then we are in for a magnificent series.
Cheers Howard

Howard,

I got a set of these at the London show last month - I agree it will be a magnificent range and look forward to the next two figures in August. Do you have the Gordon at Khartoum sets?

Jeff

I was trying to find a copy of the flag that John used for this regiment...

Cameron of Lochiel's contingent: a red flag with a central green square which bore the full arms of the family, including crest and supporters

This is as close as I could get...

Here's some images I had never seen before...

I did find this poem though...

MARCH OF THE CAMERON MEN
Mary Maxwell Davies

There’s many a man of the Cameron Clan,
That has follow’d his chief to the field;
He has sworn to support him or die by his side,
For a Cameron never can yield.

Chorus:
For I hear the pibrochs sounding,
Deep o’er the mountain and glen,
While light springing footsteps are trampling the heather,
‘Tis the march of the Cameron men.

Oh! proudly they walk, but each Cameron knows
He may tread on the heather no more;
But boldly he follows his chief to the field,
Where his laurels were gather’d before.

The moon has arisen, it shines on the path
Now trod by the gallant and true;
High, high are their hopes, for their chieftain has said,
That whatever men dare they can do.

Added the new flagbearer and was dusting and rearranging my other JJD Jacobites and was once again struck by just how good this series is. Such action and color is just unequaled in TS land as far as I am concerned. They are just wonderful. Still my favorite figures, by anyone. -- Al

I agree with you they are my favorites also. BJ-08 British officer with regimental flag should be arriving in my collection today.

I liked this one as well. Didn't realize that he is falling slightly backward as though wounded until I got it. The flag is of the lighter material which takes some getting used to, but at least it doesn't cause the figure to fall over.

Doug...

he is listed as a "wounded" figure...
but he's versatile I think...
he also works nice as a non wounded figure...
the detail on the flag is pretty nice...
he used this a a model I assume...

With my budget and overall collecting plans considered, I decided I would only get one standard-bearer. I looked long and hard at all three on a few different occasions but finally elected to get the first one - with the blue and yellow standard. I wasn't so keen on a 'wounded' figure and he had a better face than the one with the red/blue banner. The blue and yellow seemed a bit more vivid too. I agree about this range though - they are fantastic! I will probably only be able to get 9 or 10 and it is a real challenge choosing which ones these will be.

I am going to complicate your standard bearer decision. Since the flags are all seperate pieces, they can be interchanged between the carriers. If you like a particular flag, but not the carrier, you can buy the carrier you like and just switch flags. I know this requires multiple purchases, but it is a viable option.:D -- Al

Should be getting this in the mail Mondayish. Will be a welcome addition as the Jacobite flags are numerous on the field of battle. This British Regimental flag will help the 4th Ft. to rally.:D -- Al
