My interpretation of a suggestion from Denver concerning a heroic defense of Hill 488 in June 1966 by US Marines. "The Alamo, with Survivors " !

Most of this battle happened during the hours of darkness, but of course that doesn't photograph well !
I may return to this at some stage and try some different angles.

Fantastic setting and backdrop...'I love the smell of napalm in the morning'...

Wow that’s some powerful backdrop Steve. Yep definitely see it being used again. Robin.

Definitely a dramatic scene, Steve. Well done. I can't help but imagine how defending or taking hills like this must have been in real life.

Hey Steve,
Agree with the Quotes below.
Is the backdrop a scene from Mel Gibson's "WE WERE SOLDIERS"?

I can sorta' recall that happening in that movie.
Which I really enjoy by the way!

well done mate.😀👍 I always really look forward to seeing your dioramas. I'm having some problems at home so it's been quiet with building dioramas for me.. but I do have plans and when it's quiet.
I start building again. have a nice sunday.

Nice one Steve. I like the groundwork underneath the K&C soldiers.

Sorry to hear you're having problems at home, hopefully nothing that can't be fixed one way or another.
All the Best mate and keep well ! :salute::

great backdrop, matches perfectly with the soldiers defending the hill
Guy:)

Cheers Guy !:salute::

Without all the support from Aircraft and Artillery and the radio to call for it all, they would of soon been overrun for sure !

Steve

Steve, I'm currently reading Hell In A Very Small Place and although it's about the French/VN battle you're scene vividly depicts the accounts of Napalm bombing. Very well done. CHris

Awesome! Must be so much fun setting these dioramas, placing the soldiers in the cover of the grass. I love how your figures interact with their environment. Vietnam as a range is great for that.

IOh yes always fun finding a background that shows of the action going on !

This particular diorama was suggested to me and doing a little research found how sixteen US Marines and two Navy Corpsmen held off all night what is thought to have been a Battalion sized force. Brave men on both sides to be sure, one with the promise of an easy victory through force of numbers and the other hugely outnumbered fighting for their lives.

Definitely worth looking up !

Sounds incredible and thanks for bringing it to my attention. Great work recreating the action. What a night that must have been!
