Hiriart has a number of artillery gun teams in its catalog. They typically have a six horse team with three riders, a limber, and a gun. Almost all, except the the Royal Horse Artillery set, also have gunners seated on the limber and/or gun. Thanks to Jackson (John) from the Forum for the photos of set 1114.

1124 Royal Horse Artillery Gun Team

I have set 1124 on order for delivery next month which will also have an add-on mounted officer and bugler.

Again, thanks to Jackson (John), here is a photo of catalog set 1248 British Boer War Royal Horse Artillery, Colenso, 1899. The catalog description says the set includes three men on the limber. There is also a second photo from Jackson's collection of two sets of Boer War Royal Field Artillery

I think so, Jeff. I am glad you also like them. Here is another non-catalog Artillery Gun Team set, but this time of the Royal Artillery during the Zulu War, 1879. I have always liked this campaign's uniform. I missed out on buying the Trophy of Wales set, so I intend to order the Hiriart version in the future.

Hiriart also has made several artillery gun team sets from Latin America. Here is one of my favorites:

1271 REGIMIENTO TACNA - ARTILLERIA DE LLANURA, CHILE

There are two other catalog sets which when combined with set 1271 would make an interesting display.

1062 REGIMIENTO CAUPOLICAN, CHILE

1071 REGIMIENTO LANCEROS, CHILE

Note: The stock photo of set 1071 Lanceros shows only four of the five figures in the set.

This non-catalog British Artillery Gun Team is from the late 19th century and could represent several colonial campaigns.

Set 1246 WWII GERMAN ARTILLERY GUN TEAM is shown in this photo without the three men riding on the limber, but the catalog set would be similar to the Chilean Gun Team set. I have also included a non-catalog set of WWII German Cavalry which would nicely complement the gun team in a display.

Mike, of all these beautiful Hiriart sets that you have displayed for us over time, I have to say that these Chilean sets are the most striking and attractive of all. The white uniforms just capture the eye. The Lancers are my favorites but that artillery limber is a close second. Simply beautiful figures. Thanks for posting these shots. -- Al

Al,

It was my pleasure to post the photos; I am glad you like them. I also think that the white uniforms are striking and unusual. Bob Walker has a whole shelf of these Chileans, at least several dozen, on display; unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of them this time. I am definitely going to make up a display with the gun team, infantry, and lancers. I will also add the non-catalog set of MOUNTED CHILEAN STAFF OFFICERS to the display.

Here is an early World War I (or could be used for the Balkan Wars) Turkish gun team.

1259 WWI TURKISH ARTILLERY GUN TEAM

The third photo is from Bob Walker's Open House on November 5th and shows part of the gun team on display. I believe the other mounted figures are from Neal Rhodes.

Another, non-catalog, version of the Turkish Gun Team has the figures in the uniforms from set 1253. The second photo is from Bob Walker's open house and shows:

1259 WORLD WAR I TURKISH ARTILLERY GUN TEAM (1253 uniforms)

1253 WORLD WAR I TURKISH INFANTRY, 1915 (behind gun team)

1316 WORLD WAR I TURKISH CAMEL CORPS, PALESTINE (far rear)

Here is a special, non-catalog artillery gun team based on catalog set 1154 WORLD WAR I DEUTSCHES INFANTERIE, 1914. I like the label on this set, too.

So many great looking sets! Splendid photos!

"Iron Brigade"

They are great sets for those of us who love traditional 54mm glossy figures. When I started collecting about 20 years ago, I knew I could not afford to start collecting old Britains, but Hiriart , which is inspired by those old Britains sets, was an on going concern and I could afford them. In the early 1990s, Hiriart sets were $110 and they are only $125 now. Besides, they are actually better than those old Britains sets, in my opinion.

Bob Walker ordered this special non-catalog set of a 19th Century Peruvian Artillery Gun Team. It is even more impressive than the photo when you actually can see it in person.

Very nice Mike, a very striking blue! ^&cool

Another unusual artillery gun team set from Latin America is 1257 ARTILLERIA LIGERA A CABALLO, 1890, URUGUAY which translates as cavalry light artillery. This set only has a four horse gun team, but has two mounted escorts.
