Al,

Thanks. Just to be clear. Although I do have virtually all of the sets I have attached photos of in my collection or I have ordered for other collectors, I am using stock photos that Hiriart sent me, because most of my collection (80%) is still tied into their boxes and I did not bother to photograph them that way.

Also, some of these photos are "short" sets with eight foot figures instead of the nine they should have. This is because Stefano Allorini, an Italian dealer, orders his sets that way and Hiriart has photographed some of his sets. For example, my set 1179 of WW I Italian Alpini has the bayonet flag with the House of Savoy coat-of-arms on it and also has a trumpeter with a flag banner with that same flag and therefore does not look exactly like the stock photo attached.

Wow Mike what an amazing collection you have, thanks very much for posting these photos.

Thank you so much for taking the time. I've really enjoyed looking at all these photos.

I take it from what you've said that one can order direct from Hiriart. Is that so?

Wow Mike! Thats quite the collection! I had no Idea Hiriart made so many vehicle sets, the WWII sets are most impressive to me I can see why your a fan.

Mike,

I never knew Hiriart made such a wide array of sets.....very nice.

This is a real treat for glossy fans. I am looking forward to the elephant sets.

Ray,

Actually, Hiriart only has four vehicle sets in the catalog. Two other collectors and I have ordered one of them, 1207 Ansaldo-Fiat Carroarmato (CV33 tankett), as a special desert version. So there are five. BYW, I am not aware of anyone else who has made the CV33. Here are the five:

1162 British Bren Carrier

1207 Ansaldo-Fiat Carroarmato, Europe

1207 Ansaldo-Fiat Carroarmatio Desert Version

1279 German Panzer II Tank, Europe

1280 German Panzer II, Afrika Korps

Note: Set 1220 Afrika Korps with Rommel, is a double sized set with either the CV33 or Panzer II.

I don't know if that is exactly true or not. Five years ago I wrote Hiriart saying that, although I am a collector and not a dealer, I had been selling toy soldiers at the West Coaster for years. I said I would like to see if there was any interest in Hiriart at the West Coaster since I had not seen a Hiriart set at the show since 1993. Too make a long story short, they agreed and I ordered 30 sets. I sold 22 of them to one collector alone. To date, I have ordered more than 500 sets.

Hiriart has refered several U.S. collectors to me who had inquired about purchasing sets from them. But they were not placing large orders, so I really don't know what the break point is to buy from them directly. They are basically a father and son, Jaimie and Guillermo, operation with a woman who paints for them. They do not stock inventory, but manuifacture to order.

Raymond,

Off the top of my head, they only have five elephant sets in the catalog. Set 1106 comes in two versions.

1106 B Elephant set with Mortar, India

1278 Hunting Tigers, India

1309 Dehli Durbar with King George V

1310 Dehli Durbar with Queen Mary

Note: The Dehli Durbar sets both have foot figures which are not shown in the photos.

Thanks very much for posting the elephant sets.

Very nice sets indeed.

These sets were among the many photos I took at the London show in March this year, I didn't really take much notice until now.

Jeff,

Thanks for the photos from the London Show. Now everyone can see how the Hiriart sets look when they are still tied into their boxes. Do you happen to remember what they were selling for? The list price should have been about 80 British Pounds or $120 USD.

If you are interested, the sets in your photos are as follows from the top down:

1180 French Foreign Legion Cavalry Regt, 1923

1172 French Spahis de Valence, 1990

1171 French Spahis Cavalry

1227 Italian Dragoons, 1891

1229 Italian Light Cavalry. 1891

1271 Artilleria de Llanura, Tacna Regt, Chile

1218 Batallon Florida, Uruguay

1038 Sultan's Turkish Guards with Mehemet V

1284 Dragoes da Independencia, Brazil

1078 Turkish Navy

1063 Saint Cry Military Academy, France

1257 Artillera Ligera a Caballo, Uruguay, 1890
