HIRIART Imperial German Cavalry (1 Viewer)

An ineresting blog from the other Mike.I must say that this maker from a far-off part of the Globe really makes figures the way I like them. If ever my eyesight goes - and I can no longer paint my own - I would be rather interested in having some. Whilst I can still manage it, however, I'll continue with painting - though will always keep half-an-eye on this manufacturer, who does things this way. If he ever wants to sell me any of his castings - he WIL have one happy purchaser, for sure. Me! But as you suggest Mike - I won't hold my breath.

Many thanks for posting them - amd any other information about them Mike, johnnybach

Saturday, I met Bob Walker at his mother's home and we all had lunch together at his favorite Mexican restaurant. I spotted a Garde Husaren uniform and several other Imperial German uniforms at the collection he keeps at his childhood home. Here are just two photos of an incredible collection that includes at least three dozen pieces of headgear.

Bob and I each ordered a special, nine-figure, non-catalog band, including a drum horse, based on Hiriart set 1138 IMPERIAL GARDE HUSAREN.

Very pretty, Mike! Add the band sets you've been commissioning, and you can have quite a display of massed Imperial cavalry bands.

Prost!

Thanks, Brad. That is exactly what I plan to do, but including infantry with route liners at present arms. This standard catalog set normally includes an officer, bugler, and three men. Gus has been ordering them as double sets with a flag bearer. They are really impressive as double sets, don't you think?

Gus also ordered a special, non-catalog version of set 1236 THE KAISER'S WHITE CUIRASSIERS which has the figures wearing spiked helmets rather than the catalog set's helmets topped by eagles. The catalog set has an officer, bugler, and three men, which Gus already has. This set is an add-on with a flag and four men.

Thank you Jeff for your kind words. Some of the other manufacturers package their products in very attractive boxes with eloborate artwork (e.g., King & Country). Yet, there is something very appealing about Hiriart's more basic blue box with a yellow label. As you may have noticed, many of them have unique artwork for a particular set.
