This is a new Hiriart non-catalog set of U.S. Infantry, Pacific, 1942, in Action. Their uniforms look more like European Theater than Pacific Theater to me; however, an exception would be for the Aleutians Campaign. One of my two uncles, both of whom served as infantrymen in the Army during World War II, fought in that campaign; I believe he was in the U.S. 7th Infantry Division. My other uncle was already in the Army in the Panama Canal Zone when the war broke out and served in the south Pacific for the duration of the war; he was wounded in action and spent a long period in the hospital recovering from his wounds. Both were named Joe and both have long since passed away.

This is a Hiriart set that I originally ordered as a non-catalog special which was subsequently added to the catalog as set 1333 U.S. Infantry, Philippines, 1945 with a General MacArthur personality figure. These Army uniforms are more typical of the Pacific Theater.

Mike, nice way to remember your uncles. We'll always be grateful for their service. Chris

Thank you Chris. They really never talked about their World War II experiences, so I don't know too much about what they saw and went through. After the war, one of my uncle Joes worked for the Railway Express Agency (REA) in my hometown in Oregon and the other was ultimately the District level forest ranger in northern California's Plumas National forest.
