I do like the idea but can we change the ending ?^&grin.

As we get down to say the last 20 survivors the senior British officer rips off his jacket to show the Kings colours and then goes on a martial arts rampage and the good guys win. Or if a Hollywood production we make the Regiment an American one{sm4}.

Would like to see a good one based in India/Afghanistan but probably too many PC issues nowadays for a studio to run with such a subject.

Film about the US 2nd Rangers on Point Du Hoc.

Film about the US 2nd Rangers and Hill 400 and their part in the Battle of the Bulge.

Film about the 1st Rangers including training at Achnacarry, Scotland.

A film about The Battle of Bannockburn.

A film all about Oosterbeek and Arnhem, focusing on individual unit action and the actions of individuals from personal accounts.

Given the state of current computer graphics, it could be made quite believable.

As for the storyline, no embellishment necessary on this one.

Simply recount the events of those several hours.

BTW, I believe that Captain Evans of the destroyer Johnston is owed origin of the phrase "in harm's way."

We would want to make certain that Ben Affleck isn't involved in the film!{eek3}

I agree with your choice, too. I read the book, and yes, it would make a great movie.

I would also like to see a new and accurate depiction of the Battle of Midway, treated the way "Tora! Tora! Tora!" did the attack on Pearl Harbor. The 1976 movie was a bust, though the all-star cast performed well. But the special effects were absolute crap, especially the stock footage used for aerial shots and shots of the carriers. And the fictional storyline was also absolute crap. It borders on a disservice to the men who fought bravely and died, on both sides.

Prost!

A PS--I'm not sure what you mean about Captain Evans originating the term "in harm's way", though. It's been in use at least from the late 17th century.

I think I would give a high five on any of these!
