How many of guys go through this on a daily basis when watching the History Channel ?

You are watching a program on the D-Day Landings and seeing all this great footage and details on the battlefield - then you start thinking - Hmmm......maybe I should get some of those K&C SS troops with a Tiger ? or should I buy more Beach Landing Troops.....or how about those FoB figures? Hmm.......

WAIT !

I AM A NAPOLEONIC COLLECTOR - WHAT AM I THINKING !!!

I enjoy the heck out of the History Channel, HOWEVER beware they have poor research in many fields and they will put a certain bias into some of their programs. Basically they oversimplify complex events to make it easier for the average TV viewer to understand.

They DO come up with some nice video stuff and their computer graphics are getting better all the time. Look at the "Battle 360" series on USS Enterprice - the graphics are just fun to watch.

They are still the default channel on the small TV that is on the end of my workbench. I just wish they would bring back some of the material that seems to be exclusively on The Military Channel. THC seems to have sent the best military stuff the TMC and some evening I only re-runs of "UFO files" or some story about gangsters.

Yes Ron, that happens to me on a daily basis...if it not on the HC, it is something I've read or a movie I'm watching or whatever. Too funny!

Prices are only STUUUPID Tony if you dont get any business to offset the cost. If you are able to reach many new customers and make an equal amount of new sales then the cost would not be that bad. But there in lies the business risk....will those new customers and sales come from the ad? Wouldnt it be interesting to find out? I still believe however that AD's of that nature should be driven by KC Corporate so "all ships are raised by the high tide". However if an idividual dealer wanted to take on that risk there could be a huge reward on the other side.......

I think you just described just about everyone here! I deal with the same thing myself. This is how I recently got into the WWI Germans.

Plastic kits used to be a major introductory hobby but very few kids make kits these days, so companies need to look for other methods to get people into military model collecting.

The History Channel reaches a huge audience worldwide and costs could be shared between K & C and their dealers.

Heres a true story demonstrating the current reality. Yesterday, my youngest boy who is 15 years old asked me a series of questions about the models in my collection. Previously he had no interest in his weird dad's models, so I asked him what generated these questions. He had been playing some X-box games that were WWII based and these made him curious about that war and the weapons used in it.

This made me think that a smart K & C dealer would be wise to consider a small display at their local 'Electronics Boutique' or similar games retailer ;)

In addition to the players there is a huge untaped source of parents that have been conned into buying games that are worthless after six months. These parents may look positively on buying some models for their kids, or themselves, that could actually appreciate in value.
