Hi Guys,

Following on from the “Richlieu & The Musketeers” thread...One of the great attractions for me personally is the “intertwining” of different authentic and fictional subjects within a certain historical framework.

When we originally began developing the “Pike & Musket” series I was fully aware (and hoped) that we would include a spread of historical eras that could contain, side by side, Alexander Dumas’ “The Three Musketeers” (1625) as well as..."The Thirty Years War" (1618-1648) and, of course, “The English Civil War” (1642-1651).

From my own research I already knew that military and civilian dress and fashions of that time were broadly similar. In the world of the early to mid 17th Century the pace of life was much, much slower than today. A French Musketeer of 1625 would not have looked out of place on an English battlefield of 1645 for instance.

The span of action and the broad sweep of history between 1625 and 1651 was just 33 years and life (and death) in the Europe of that day provides more than ample opportunities for a wealth of great ideas and future releases...Look out for more...much more!

Best wishes and happy collecting,

Andy

Could not agree more Andy. I bought a book recently with all colour pictures which I thought were of the English in the civil war, but turned out to be all about the 30 year war in Europe. Everything looked the same as the ECW, same clothing, armor, weapons, mounted troops, flags well who would know. These could all have fitted into a ECW scene. No doubt about this early 17th century period allows for an enormous scope of releases. Also a wealth of colour is present which makes for a great series to collect for the 'wow' factor. Robin.
