I too am looking forward to this thread, and have loads of questions.
Did you find ( with a bit of help from Mr. X) - an original set of these Flats? - or were they unpainted re-casts??
I note that you are having them painted - so this raises the question of what they originally were - and what state they were in.
Is it a complete set - which would mean 42 figures? I have only seen them in (small) pictures - sometimes posted by Auction Houses ( such as Vectis). You can sometimes make out the general shape of these figures - with an inscription underneath each figure - which may help you with identification of each one Zach.
Google images will help you get to the correct pics.
Lastly - this is my completed William I - that I bought from Whitetower Miniatures. The owner. Matthew Thair, made up the Norman head with crown for me - which enabled me to make up and paint this figure from a kit of parts he supplied - which is a fully round 54mm, painted in my favourite Glossy Toy Soldier style.
