I was just reviewing the recently posted K&C items on ebay and several Hitler figures were all removed. Do you think that was done by eBay? I thought I heard somewhere that eBay banned some Nazi-related items.

Yes, that was done by ebay. You have to be careful how you describe things so they don't remove listings. Gideon can tell you a few stories about that. There are certain words they look for and Hitler and Nazi are some of them.

I've noticed that some K&C LAH items listed on ebay have the swastikas on the photos blurred out. I guess it's clever sellers trying to get around having their items de-listed.

it is also because the Swastika is banned in Germany, yet the LAH range sells very well there.

So if you want items to have global selling appeal you need to blank it out

Hi Guys,
I think Ebay has pretty good technology to detect Nazi related items. I put up a replica German WWII badge as a buy it now about a year ago. I did not think about it when listing but they took it down as the badge had a small swatika in the centre which was hardly visible in the photo. They must have a list of which badges have the insignia in.
As you guys are probably aware the owners/founders of Ebay are Jewish. At the end of the day you have to respect their right to choose not to allow such items. I remember last yaer being surprised that a earlier version of K&C Himmler was sold on Ebay.

Brett,

I don't believe it has anything with their being Jewish. They claim that laws in Germany prohibit displays of swastikas, etc. so they use that as their pretext for their political correctness.

The founder of eBay, Pierre Omidya, is Iranian born in France. Meg Whittman, the current president of the company, is as WASPy as possible. Jeff Skoll, the former president, is Jewish. As to the company being owned by Jews, in part that's true because it's a public company and people of all religions or no religion can purchase the stock. Even bigots are allowed to be owners.

There is a lot of silence about freedom of speech. It is very interesting that nobody seems to note that Germany has forgotten free speech when it comes to its own past. Are they afraid of their own citizens? Looks like they're getting ebay to deny the rest of us the same way. With regard to toy soldiers, application of this bugaboo crosses into the ridicuous. Certainly the exchange of miniatures with occasional minute swaztikas to accurately portray history between (gasp) sometimes elderly collectors will incite no rebellions. The prohibition appears to be some knee jerk type thought police action. A swastiki on the back of a 7 or 8 inch long German-converted T-34 shouldn't excite prejudice and hate. Everybody knows it simply attempts accuracy.

If you're careful, you can sell these on Ebay. I've even seen LAH items on German ebay that are allowed to stay.
