I'm a relatively new but devoted K&C fan, and I just bought the Streets of Hong Kong Bird Shop facade as part of a pretty large purchase, my first foray into SOHK.

As I tried to attach the birdcages to the wire, one of them wouldn't fit. I applied a bit of pressure, and...SNAP. The entire wire and the pieces holding it to the facade fell off.

I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience, or ideas on what I should do about it. It seems like a product defect to me, if not of the facade then of the bird cage. There was no warning or instructions.

I'm incredibly careful with the pieces I buy. Of the now - hundreds of toy soldiers I have, the only other problem I had was with some Figarti Viet Cong that arrived already broken from Hobby Bunker.

I don't feel it's something I should take up with Treefrog as it arrived in perfect condition and I "broke" it (although I applied very little force). But it seems like such a shame that such a beautiful (and not inexpensive) piece should break so easily.

Contact - King & Country and ask Andy if they can fix it for you - usually they know how to fix these mishaps quite well and always try to help their collectors.

I second Ron's suggestion that you should contact K&C, but there is your admission of how the damage occurred. I have the SOHK piece you describe and also had a problem with one of the bird cages. Please be aware that K&C products are all hand crafted and painted. Chinese workers snipped tiny pieces of brass wire and bent it into the hook shape by hand, so there will always be the slight variances that result from this type of craftsmenship. Given the delicate nature of some of these items, pressure is sometimes not the best option. I had the choice of using a pair of needle nose pliers to make the hook slightly larger or putting the cage on the table of the accompanying bird cage seller set, and decided to simply put it on the table.:)

Thanks everyone. What I may do is try to sell the broken bird shop for a (big) discount to someone who can repair it more it more easily than I can.

There's nothing worse than getting something in excellent condition and then screwing it up somehow.I know this very very well.:(:(
