Also in the news, the USS Texas is being refurbished (in Texas, surprisingly...)
That was the ship Grandpa called when he was on Iwo Jima to target fire to blow up over 200 enemy on Mount Suribachi.
Every time I see a Marine with a radio (he dressed in Marine camo when he went ashore to target fire from the Navy) or hear about the Texas I think of him. It was a short part of his life but fascinating. He said that when the guns fired it sucked the air out of your ears!
