HMS Victory (1 Viewer)

Very few were made as I think the price tag was around $6,000.

Finding one that didn’t warp is a bigger issue. Wasn’t this the model that the wood beams all warped and popped?

I was told by a Figarti dealer you can get them made to order there. But that would be a can of worms. Payment up front with no comeback ect.

Brad - it was even too big for me 😀
It was considered though!!! Haha

Checkout the video slide show from Chicago Toy Soldier Show 2010.

I forgot what the measurements were, but I don't know which shop Rick Wang got this ship from in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam.

I saw shops with many other clipper ships of this scale in shops while visiting this city in 2016.

BTW, the original Figarti price was $6500. Brad's memory was very close.

Here's a picture of a shop in
Ho Chi Minh City that sells this type of ship. I'm not sure if this is the shop Rick made the deal with.

That’s a great video Carlos. The Victory was perhaps the ultimate Shock and Awe Piece although the Landing Craft was very, very close. Ahh, those were the days. You need a lot of room for both. I know Louis has the landing craft but I don’t think he has the Victory.

That's what you get for floating it in your bath tub...………

I remember after the show was over that year and myself and a number of other dealers were loading out through the basement in the lower level of the hotel, there was a huge and I mean HUGE wooden crate in the loading dock and it was one of those ships.

The shipping alone would cost a small fortune, that crate was big and heavy.

Nice midel and nice figures, but The model seems no way near 1/32. Maybe 1/48?

Yes, pretty sure it was 1/48th, it was set up in the lobby on the 5th floor during the show..................

Measurements would of course confirm the scale.
I have a 1/72 model of RAYO a Spanish 100 gun ship of the line and the images of the Victory in this post seem to be smaller than 1/32.

If anyone is considering seriously a model of this size, I recommend you contact Curro Agudo Mangas in Badajoz, Spain. You can contact him through facebook. He built a Trafalgar 8-10 ship scene in 1/48 scale that is simply amazing. I vusuted his workshop and saw the models, but nevergot to see the scene as such, which he exhibited in El Corte Ingles in Badajoz. Google “El Acoso del Santisima Trinidad”. The Trinidad has to be larger than Victory.

Shipping the completed model is of course a challenge, but my model made it through in perfect shape.

Not sure if he could produce a 1/32 Victory and how much it would cost.
