I plan to buy the new British Army Supply Wagon from the Monongahela series when it is released in September. I see on the upcoming announcements thread that the previously released "cart horses" set (BAL-05) is going to be re-released and is recommended to go with this supply wagon.

I already own this horse set and would have no problem buying another set to go with the new supply wagon, but I have a dilemma. I love JJD's horses and believe that they are some of the best on the market. I have had my eye on the horse sets from the War of 1812 range, the BCHLIMB-02 & 03 sets, and would prefer to buy one of those sets to go along with the new supply wagon.

Does anyone know at this point if either of those horses are compatible with the supply wagon instead of the recommended set? It appears to me that almost any of the JJD horse sets can be used inter-changeably, it's just a matter of how one uses the chains. Can anyone offer some insight into this?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I was looking at them and the only difference is the yoke around the horse's neck. I know that harness changed some, but I don't think that it would be wrong to use the 1812 set of horses with the new ammo wagon. Plus if gives you some variety in the poses of the horses.

Just my thoughts.

Matthew,

Thanks for your input. I believe you are correct in your assessment and you have confirmed what I thought about this. I emailed JJ about it and will wait to see what he says before I decide.

Mark,
when you have the answer post it here please. I believe many of us interested to the JJ suggestions. Thank you

I just heard from John today. To give you an idea of what a great guy John is, he and his assistant went to the trouble of actually setting up the wagon with one of those horse sets I asked about from the 1812 range and snapped a photo of it. Here is his reply to me and the picture:

"The BAL-03 Horse set is designed to go with the Army Supply Wagon. I had not thought of using the newer BCHLIMB-03 set.

I am not sure about the historical accuracy, but the BCHLIMB-03 set could be used with a little bit of adaptation of the chains. The BCHLIMB-02 set will not be suitable, as it is designed to fit with the British Limber. I have attached a picture that my assistant Yin set up today. The horses look like they will work, but some of the chains will need to be taken off the horses".

They look great to me. I think you have your answer. John is one of the good ones in my book. Thanks for posting.
