It's amazing what animals are good for do you have Riding for Disabled (RDA) over there? They used to use our indoor school, it's wonderful to see some kid that can't walk sitting on a horse, their faces light up!:)

Yes it is amazing; we do have an equivalent program in the US and that is a wonderful thing to see. FWIW, my horses make my face light up too.;):D

BL, where is your local polo club? It is not my sport but I have a number of friends that are involved at amateur and professional levels. I have even managed to get a few good hits in some S&B practice for fun.

Not locally, but there are programs in California. I think---it was either on the News or a made-for-televison movie.

Indoor School? Phooey. It rains, we get rained on. It snows, we get snowed on. If it gets over 100°F we, might have a cold beer.

The indoor school is because Hyde Park Barracks is in the centre of London. The old Knightsbridge Barracks was demolished in 1969 because some of the building was way beyond repair, so when the new barracks was built all of the modern stables, mens accomadation, cook house etc. all had to fit in the same area. The answer was to build everything up. The Blues stables is up a ramp The Life Guards stables is down a ramp. Above the riding school is the gym and NCOs mess. The married quarters is 34 story block of flats! Any out door riding takes place in Hyde Park or during watering order every morning when the horses are exercised around the streets of London. By the way cerimonial duties continue 365 day of the year come rain, snow or bombs! We don't get the beer until after the duties though.:D

Try "trooper's polo". The horse wears head kit and a blanket held on with a circingle. The rider wears hard hat, overalls and dms boots. The aim of the game is to score, and that's the rule. Generaly speaking it's easier to score if you're the only person still on a horse, so unseat everyone else first! It's great fun but doesn't half teach you to keep long legs on.:D

Sounds like that could have been fun some time back; getting a bit long in the tooth to look for additional opportunities to become parted from my equine partners. My young horse is quite capable of more than meeting that need.;):D
