Hotel in Chicago for the Toy Show (1 Viewer)

One place to stay is where the Show is: the Hyatt Regency in Schaumberg. They have a special toy soldier rate if you contact them and mention you're there for the Show.

The Hyatt looks like a nice place. Personally, when we go to the show, my wife and I stay at the Residence Inn. The Residence Inn is just up the road. If you draw a triangle between the Hyatt, the IKEA store and the Residence it would be almost equilateral. We like the facility - I like being able to have room to open up my recent purchases and still have room for my wife and I to relax. We enjoy having a kitchenette since we are there several days. I have walked from the Residence to the show several times and it's nice to get a short walk in and then my wife has the car for her shopping. Just a suggestion.

Thanks Chaps, any idea for hotels in downtown, as will be flying in and there will be two of and would prefer to be in the centre, any ideas?

want to do the tourism bit as well.

My daughter had her wedding reception at the St James, good location center of the loop with easy access to the tollway to take you to Schaumburg.

I could take advantage of a long-weekend special.
The rate is only at an average of $91.50 per night + tax for a standard double bed room and I do believe that beats the show discount you can receive on their regular prices.
Looking forward to a long weekend of nothing but Toy Soldiers, day in and day out ^&grin, and to meeting lots of fellow collectors.

Gary is right, there are other hotel choices for the show.

However, I like the Hyatt because there are alot of accidental meetings and run-ins with collector, manufacturer and dealers that happens during off-hours you might not get if you're staying at another hotel.

For me, it's a once a year event and sometimes for some of us, a once in a lifetime event. So why not increase your chances of the max. experience and fun possible?

Just my 2 cents worth,

carlos

I agree, Carlos,
staying in the Hyatt itself for a few days and seeing, meeting, talking with so many Toy Soldier enthusiasts from all over the globe is the ultimate experience within this hobby. Now that I have my room booked, I can't wait :rolleyes2: ^&grin

I booked my reservations today at the Schaumburg La Quinta Inn where I always stay for this event . . . just opposite the Hyatt on the other side of Woodfield Mall . . . . very close and convenient to the show's location at a very affordable weekend rate which includes breakfast. I'll be arriving Friday morning and will be leaving on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing all of you there . . .

I have never gone but if I do then I think your advice is well thought out :)

Ruggles mate,
I think my good mate Carlos advice is spot on. It would be a pleasure to meet three Texans, in your good self, Carlos and young Michael Miller at the Bar and shout you all a refreshing ale. I think one Aussie is about, when it comes to drinking the equivalent of three Texans.:smile2: I think John Wayne once said that. Well if he didn't maybe he should have.^&grin^&grin
Cheers Howard
