Let's all admit, that anyone of us over 40, fell in love with tanks after watching the "Battle Of The Bulge", "Patton", and "Kelly's Heroes". K&C some years ago made an M3 Lee complete with Humphrey Bogart figure dipicting Sgt Joe Gunn from the movie Sahara. It was a phenominal piece. I would love to see a Sherman Tank complete with loudspeaker and Kelly[Clint Eastwood], manning the machine gun on top of the tank, and Oddball [Donald Sutherland[ sitting in the command hatch. Throw in a few tank riders that look like Telly Savalas, and Don Rickles, and what you have is a great conversation piece to display. I actually think it would be a big seller!

I think it would be a phenomenal seller. I've been thinking about doing this with one of my FOV Sherman's but haven't got around to planning it out yet. If K&C were to produce such a set, there would be a lot of pushing and shoving in the queue lined up to order one.
:D:D;);):)

Cheers

I totally agree with you about 'Patton' and 'Batle of the Bulge'.But i must say (puts on tin helmet)and i know i'm totally alone in this(takes cover in air raid shelter)...didn't like Kellys Heroes....yep thats what i said!!!:D.Sorry but it was something about Donald S role that really annoyed me.I don't really think of it as a true war film as such.......still as everyone one else on the planet loves it i'm sure its pretty good:D

'There you go again. What is it with you and dem negative waves?' :D

I'd love a Kelly's Heroes set, although a three figure set of Eastwood, Sutherland and Savalas when they were walking towards the Tiger would look very cool.

Rob,
Its possibly because the Oddball character had, like man, time travelled back from 1967 to 1945...???

I Love in Kellys Heroes, its one of my favourite films, but also have a soft spot for Ice Cold In Alex, hows about a Austin K2 Ambulance set with matching figures?
I know in the past King and country have done the above in 3 RAF versions, but they were limited to 55 in total:eek:Time for a remake me thinks,8th army version, field of battle version,d-day-1945 late war version? Its mind boggling when you think how many war films that have been made, that probably haven't got Licensed items, must be the cost:confused:VON RYANS EXPRESS anyone:D

Funny movie but I think it would be a terrible idea to make one based on the movie.

I think a Kelly's Hero's Sherman with the characters as described, and a Tiger, along with the facade of that Italian Bank would make for an awesome diorama. I love that movie!

I just don't think it's a good idea, that's all. Do we really need another Sherman? Nope.

Notwithstanding all that, if you wanted to issue Kelly's Sherman, you have legal issues. You will need the permission of the people who hold the right to the name "Kelly's Heroes." Copyright protection in the US lasts 75 years, Europe 50 years (movie was made in 1970).

Secondly, you'll also need the permission of Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland and other actors you'd want to depict on the tank who are still alive. With respect to those who are dead like Telly Savalas, California has recently passed a law to the effect that a person's rights do not end upon death. New York is considering a similar measure. These two states are trendsetters in US law so don't be surprised if other states eventually follow suit.

Getting permissions cost money and for a small company like K & C (in the total scheme of things) that, in and of itself, will be a disincentive to making this tank.
