How about some WWII Russians (1 Viewer)

Good news from CS. Lots of people screaming for Eastern Front stuff and now it appears that CS will try it out. Russian tanks with the CS treatment are going to be fun. Thanks CS. -- Al

Hi CS

I even saw a comment that someone "didnt like" the Russian uniforms.

.

Soviet uniforms are very interesting, and offer much potential to the toymaker. Trouble is that they aren't known too well in the west. There was little standardization in dye color after the war began, so the range of khaki colors can really be quite broad. I think we regard the communists as one homogenous horde, where everything looks the same, and while that can hold for certain situations, there can also be much variety too. I really liked the K&C Berlin Russians and one could even go much farther with them in this time period. If one really sat down with good references & put as much brainpower into it as with Germans, it could be interesting

The first one to make some 1/30 scale Russian figures and vehicles WINS ! A lot of collectors are looking for these items.

Still would like surrendering Soviets. They can be used as prisoners of the Germans and prisoners of the NKVD! Plus, the NKVD had some interesting uniforms and colors. -- Al

Agreed, especially the T-34. It would go with both the K&C Fall of Berlin and the recent Figarti Russians, and I think would be a sellout even as a one-off.

Furthermore, I think the T-34 would appeal to more than just Russo-philes. It's one of THE iconic tanks of WWII, right up there with the Panzer and the Sherman.

ALSO: I think CS would have a price advantage...right now their AFVs are about $50 cheaper than Figarti or K&C.

I'm agnostic on whether the Russians are surrendering or attacking, or even whether we need Russian soldiers at all, although I like CS' tradition of "booster packs".

Very happy to hear CS is at least considering something, even if it's for later this year or early next.

It was my understanding that K&C's Russian releases under the Waffen SS range, way back when, didn't do that well, which is why more weren't released subsequently. My hunch is that to most collectors the Eastern Front, like the Pacific theatre, just doesn't have the romance of Western Europe. But, maybe the times have a'changed.

I'm more excited to hear what these new ranges will be.

I think you are right, and the media plays a huge part in this as well. Only seeing tv shows on the invasion of Normandy doesn't help expand interest in other theaters of the war. People need to understand that a lot of those famous German units became elite on the steppes of Russia. People should read more books.

If you read the K&C thread concerning Russian Tanks and figures,there are a lot of collectors in support of and others fighting against to have these items made. I guess the first company to make these in 1/30 scale will get my money and all of the others waiting in the wings for these releases. {sm3}
