Problem is......what do you do with all the boxes? I've managed to acquire
over 100 vehicles, 500+ figures, several diorama's 10 buildings and about a
dozen facades.....and still have all the boxes!![]()
You could use them to save money on the massive fuel bills.....pop em in your woodburning stove![]()
That is an impressive amount, including those 24 Russian figures. I managed to get 11 foot and 3 mounted figures from St. Pete back when I had some money. The 2 mounted knights (both with banners) and the 1 Winged Polish lancer are the highpoints of my collection. They are simply gorgeous but there is no way I could buy them today as they currently cost $450-550 each. Glad I got them many moons ago. -- lancerApproximate numbers would be as follows:
K&C Figures (WWII, ACW, Crusaders) - 972
K&C WWII Vehicles - 82
HB WWII Vehicles - 10
Britain's, Conte, CS ACW Figures - 535
Figarti WWII 4 Vehicles, 42 Figures
Russian Painted Figures - 24

Despite the amusing title, it was a good excuse to take approximate count and discover I have more that I thought. For me, my top figure producer is First Legion (FL) with about 76. The rough overall break down is:
Napoleonics: 53 British foot (29 FL, 6 CS, 11 KC, 2 TB & 2 WB); 45 French foot (all FL); 8 French mounted (5 KC, 2 CS, 1 FL); 1 British mounted (FL)
Greeks Etc: 30 Spartans, 25 Persians, 30 painted plastic Spartans (all Conte)
Romans: 20 Roman foot, 20 Barbarians, 5 mounted Romans (all Conte); 8 Roman foot & 2 Roman mounted (EoI)
Zulu Wars: 7 Conte; 7 WB.
Diecast Aircraft: 3 1/32, 4 1/48 & 20 1/72 (Corgi, Hobby Master & Dragoon)
Diecast tanks: 11 1/72 (Corgi and Dragoon)
Plastic Knights: 16 90mm (Schleich)
Oh well, miles to go I guess.![]()
Yo Trooper, thats why your a Major General, your one of the smart guys. Did you see the Bozo from the States a couple of weeks back, had about 30 Old Britains sets from the 1950s and sold all the boxes off. Said when I go nobody will no which boxes they go in. What a WHALLEY..
Bernard.
That's an excellent idea. I have all my boxes (except for my hollowcast Britains, era 1930's) and they are well organized but I am the only one who knows what goes where. When I croak there are going to be some people around my home tearing their hair out trying to solve the puzzle unless I get off my butt and do something like you did. -- AlI thought about this in case i drop dead one day and want my wife to sell it all and make a few quid.So i put a list in every storage box along with a picture of the item,so in the event of my demise my good lady just has to match the picture in the box to the item on the shelf. It will take her ages but would be worth it.All the storage boxes are numbered and in loft.I'm not planning on going anywhere, but just in case!
Rob
Yes you make another excellent point! I have a nice file with photographs of
each item, its number and aprox value, just have to make sure the wife
doesn't fine it while I'm still around!![]()
I've got my collection categorized online but I haven't had the time to count all the pieces. Suffice to say that its high time that I started selling some parts off before collecting anymore. My dilemma is that I really like my existing collection and removing pieces would be painful. I'm hoping that if we have improved rereleased items that my existing ones can be replaced with improved versions........otherwise I'm in trouble.![]()
