1. Is there are tips anyone could share on removing decals from some tanks, vechicles ?

2. Would it leave any adhesive or mark, residue, etc. once removed ? and if so how to remove them too ?

3. The paintwork is (I think) Acrylic

4. Anyone had done it before ?

I recall seeing a KnC Desert Tiger turret No. been changed in this forum - but cannot recall who posted it

PS: If I wanted to make a battle scene, the turret numbers cannot be the same {sm4}

For example removing this tank's insignia or the turret No. 505

I have done some work on K&C vehicles, but I always paint over the decal, as trying to remove it seems to damage the surface.

I have repainted numbers on a Desert Tiger, and just went over the old number 125 to make 123.

I've also dome similar things to Matilda Tanks in changing the names.

I hope that helps,

John

depends on what the decals are. If you leave them often there will be a visible raised surface especially on aircraft (I have found) If you can feel it with a nail then it should be removed. I use a blending solution on a cotton bud for fragile work where I am not repainting just reapplying the decals. Where the model will get a full repaint the decals will be removed with a stipple brush as the model is always primed grey before starting.

If you just want to remove this Divisional symbol then I would use a blending solution also known as alcohol ink and gently rub the area it will remove the decal without damaging the paint underneath. Simply wipe clean and then apply the new decal and hit it with some mud colour paint that this company favours for the weathering it does on its AFV's

Thank you Obee and Mitch :salute::

Looks like I'll need to experiment this on some cheaper models before I try it on the "real" more expensive piece {sm4}
