How do you display your K&C figures? Do you have a man cave/war room? :) (1 Viewer)

Sadly 99% of my collection resides in boxes in the spare room. With very young children in the house I'm fearful of displaying things yet. We also don't have a proper curio. I've only got about a half dozen individual figures on display on a high shelf that I periodically rotate. :(

It makes a big difference. I had a fairly small collection of CW stuff on my bookshelves. Then I moved to a bigger house, bought a curio, and my collection exploded.

I had a room filled with beautiful Lionel Trains floor to ceiling when my daughter was 2. She was free to enter and touch anything she liked, I would take the items down and let her handle them. Once she learned she could see anything she wanted it was of little interest.
Through high school and 3 different homes she was always great in the den. If she showed a friend the room she would leave any items that had been handled on my desk to be wiped off and replaced on the shelves.

Now over 30 years later I just had my grandaughter in the den (she is 2)! It was quite a treat she looked at everything, handled whatever she wanted, and was quite a doll!:D We spent quite a bit of time at the work table with her sitting on a large "Lionel" stool playing with antique "Anchor Blocks" and Bill Ding Figures......both of which she took home!

She was fascinated with a couple of Collector Club figures with long lances and an AN04 set I had on display together.......she loved to watch the lances spin around!

My point is let your children enjoy your collections, after all with a little luck someday the collection will belong to them.:)

I have a room dedicated to all my collecting. A few curio and glass cases, but they are filling up! Maybe I will take some pics one day.

I have commandeerd my mum's Box Room for the past 3 years!

Now I am in the middle of getting the loft done up for my 'Man-Lair'!:D

When my wife and I designed our retirement home in 2000, she got her dream kitchen, and I got my dream library. I did have the collection displayed in a series of lawyer’s bookcases, curio cabinets, and small glass cases. At a local Scandinavian furniture store I was able to find a combination of modular teak (remember not oak) display cabinets and bookcases. The display cabinets have glass shelves and doors, and are top lighted. Each cabinet module has a double-door bottom storage area where I can keep the empty boxes. It wasn’t cheap, however it was a lot cheaper than installing built in custom cabinetry, and although not likely to happen anytime soon, the units can (in theory) be emptied and moved. I'm including a couple of jpgs to show the overall effect.

That is a magnificent display you have there. One we should all envy. It is kind of like I am doing with my home office but far far superior!

I don't know how close Aurora New York is the Roslyn Harbor, but drop on by sometime and I will give you a little tour of the museum . . . my man cave is a three room third floor with 800 square feet of display space and another 300 feet of storage space, in which I display in 10 cabinets and on 17 K&C custom dioramas 300+ armored vehicles, 100+ aircraft, 2500+ soldiers and a small collection of military memorabelia.

2 500 soldiers, WOW this is pretty impressive collection Louis....
