Also how on earth did we make do before dispatches was put on the forum!?.In the old days it was calling companies or buying magazines,now with a click of the mouse its all there in front of us,very handy.

I think it's also changed the face of toy soldier magazines around the world.

It used to be people got the magazines to find out the latest of what's going on in the hobby. Now, by the time something goes to print, news has been out there for quite some time.

As with many things in this world, information gets out a lot faster than ever before.

Absolutely,this forum outpaces magazines by a country mile.And the info is there for you 24hrs a day seven days a week.

Peter - Thats for sure, the TS Mags are playing catch up all the time !

We do have a constant stream of information and sometimes that is a bad thing when everyone knows whats coming up at a moments notice - the shock factor is lost and becomes common place.

But, for the TS Retailers its a GOLD MINE :D - now you have orders on a faster pace and spikes in sales when things are retired. So all in all its a good thing for them to have the "CABLE NEWS TOY SOLDIERS WORLD" on 24/7

As for Collectors - Combat is right ! How did we live with out the internet / forums in our early collecting days ? ;)

I have to agree with Rob, the difference is the content, not just idle chat on a subject, but cutting edge info. The Fact that Andy was forward thinking enough to openly engage in news and conversation, the great contributions from other manufacturers following suite. The contribution of dealers is huge as well, Shannon and Pete, George (warrior) and many others helping us all get what were looking for and keeping us the most informed consumers on the planet. The knowledge shared by members is truly awesome as well. It's really a great place to be, very addictive!!!!

It's only been a couple of months as a member for me, but already, I find it very difficult to remember what collecting was like for me before being able to discuss it and share in the enjoyment with everyone here. I can honestly say I've yet to come across a single person on the forum I've disliked, which for a very random, disparate grouping of people from all over the world, is quite something.

Haven't had a chance to say it properly before, or indeed to talk to either of you directly at all, but to Shannon and Peter (my namesake!) - thank you very, very much for all the effort you put into this. It's an absolutely tremendous resource, and one I enjoy no end, so here's to you!

To all the rest - it's been huge fun guys, so thank you and here's to much more in the future!

I appreciate you mentioning me in your initial post Arnhem44Mad; as a younger member of the forum, you are exactly what this hobby needs in order to carry on, younger collectors who will carry the torch for the future of the hobby.

I wish I would have found this forum earlier. It is very informative. I have been a member for about a month now.
 
Welcome, you are in for a treat! Lots of good information, ideas, and great

collectors and dealers. You will see wonderful collections displayed, and the

work of quite a few talented people to add to your enjoyment of the hobby.

Lots of colorful characters, lots of info, lots of talent-this forum is great.

I don't know of any other toy soldier forum that is as vibrant as this one.

Although guys please remember that there is still a lot of people out there that DO NOT use the internet and the written word is still their gospal in the Toy Soldier World.

Magazines will have their place for a while yet!

I also appreciate the mention, this forum is great, because without it I would not have met and got to know you, and all the other great guys - on both sides of the Atlantic. I enjoy the hobby, but having a good laugh with you guys is even more fun:D..............moderator allowing of course.;)
