some tips :
1.draw with a pencil along the contour of the figure base
2.remove the polystyreen inside the contour to a certain depth, so that the figure's feet are at ground level( see photographs)
3.Put the figure back to view the result , if you are satisfied with the result start painting the figure to give it partly a "wet" look ( next tip)
more tips and pictures to follow

painting a "wet" look
1.figures with chocolate coloured trousers: I used Van Dyck brown oil paint up to knee hight.
2.When dry I used some gloss varnish to enhance the wet look of the trousers.( you can also use AK079 "wet effects fluid")
3.Figures wearing green trousers, I used "greenish umber" oil paint to imitate it the wet look.
(see pictures)

Guy,

I can't wait to see the finished project. Always a treat and this one especially, because my Dad landed with the 29th on Omaha.

When the figures were glued in their def. place , I used some polyfilla filler to cover the base.(see picture)
When it was dry I gave it a very diluted (water)coat of AK Terrain beach sand ( AK8019)
When dry I painted the surface with a mixture of AK sand Beige+ AK sand brown and some diluted Model Color British uniform brown (70921) with a touch here and there of AK slimy grime light and dark
When dry I covered the beach ( land side) with some natural beach sand
still working on some more detail and then the sea !!!!!!!
