Yo Troopers, yes another poll, but to myself would like to know the answer to this, so if you dont mind Troopers putting in your vote would be helpful. As far as I hve seen on the forum there are not many Old Britains collectors. I know they can be exspensive and if tied in you cannot display as well as the modern sets, but price wise when you look at K&C, Imperial, Hocker, Monarch etc there is not a lot of difference. So come Troopers lets just see how many of us there are out there on forum.
Bernard.

Bernard,

I'm not sure the answers match the question.

I'm thinking the choices should be:

I collect Old Britains and I have less than five sets
I collect Old Britains and I have more than five sets
I don't collect Old Britains because I find them to be expensive
I don't collect Old Britains because they don't display well
I don't collect Old Britains for other reasons

Let me know if that's what you had in mind and I can edit the poll.

Yo Trooper, how come you can read my mind lol, yeh go ahead and change it Brad. Did you get my message ok ??.
Bernard.

Brad prior to your changing the poll it showed only 2 collecting and 4 not collecting with the balancee in the other categories you've changed the overall picture not that it makes a difference to me.......The Lt.

I did get your other message. I have to call him today. Will be in touch.

Ken,

What would you suggest as a proper poll to gauge interest in Old Britains?

Gentle Friends,

I intend to vote in this poll, but I will wait until the voting options are finalized.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat ;)

How about:
Do you collect old Britains? (yes or no)

do you collect post war?
do you collect pre-war?
both?

If so, do you have 1-10 sets, 10-25, 25-40, 40-60, 60 -80?

If you don't collect old Britains, is it because:

1. too expensive?
2. hard to display?
3. Other reason?

Hi Brad!
Perhaps it would shed more light on this subject if we asked the following:
1. Do you collect only vintage Britains figures.
2. Do you collect only vintage figures including Britains.
3. Do you collect only vintage style figures including new production.
4. Do you only collect boxed sets.
5. How are they displayed?
6. Do you have a collection that includes many styles, including vintage, new production and realistic matt.
7. Do you not collect any vintage or vintage style figures?
I know that these questions must be reconfigured to work in a pole, but this seems to be the information some would like to see.
All the best!
Ken

Yo Trooper, thats ok with me as they say, WHATEVER LIGHTS YOUR CANDLE, be nice to see the answers, so its all on you Brad.
Bernard.

Hey Bernard,

I collect them and so do several others like Pat Wade. I think you would be quite surprised by how many folks have a some old Britains or other makers in their collections.

Here is a pictures of a grouping that is sitting on my desk right now. Its mixed with some new ones and some other makers but the bulk of the soldiers in the display are Britains.

All the best

Dave

Hey Bernard,
It seems like I have always had some old Britain figures around the house. I still pick up a few broken and battered ones from time to time with the idea that they can be cosmetically restored someday. The ones that are fit for display are mixed with whatever else looks good with them, seperate from my Matt finished figures or the newer Gloss Redcoats/Bluecoats. Will I buy any more of the vintage figures? Yes, along with a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
Ken

Still one of my favorites, when I can find affordable ones. I would guess I have couple of hundred old Britains - singles ,sets, guns and vehicles. Have also picked up British Bulldog, Marlboro and AQM since they fit well with the Britains. Too little time and too many toys........................

I collect Britains period !! Old or new :D I don't currently have any lead toy soldiers but I do have plenty of the zoo & farm range.

I chose the last option as the one the best fits; I don't collect them, regularly, but I do have some individual old Britains. I think I'm like Ken-I picked up the ones I have, because I think I can repair them, and then display them. I have some of the farm animals, for example; for the classic 54mm scale, they're perfect with my Imrie-Risley figures and my Prins August castings.

But I do appreciate them for the way they were made, the way they look. I think that everyone ought to have some for his collection, even if all you collect is K&C Nazis, as an example of the earlier days of the hobby.

Prost, beianand!
Brad

:) Hi y'all I collect Old Britains. Mostly Highlanders. I have a few other odds and ends. I enjoy displaying my Old Britains side by side with their newer counter parts. It makes for a fun historical perspective.
O.C.

I have a large collection of zoo items from numerous manufacturers, have all the Britains hollowcast series (except Sringbuck, Bushbuck and King Cobra), also have about 100 Britains french foreign legion/arab figures and 100 Britains western figures plus 10 prairie schooners (my favorite Britains item), also have miscell. soldiers unboxed. The only modern Britains I collect are Civil war, mainly Union Cavalry. Britfarmer, if you have extras of the Britains Zoo that I am missing, I have alot of duplicates and some cool wooden zoo enclosures for trade. Currently collecting King and Country The West, Remember the Alamo, Knights and Saracens, and Iwo Jima Series.

Unfortunately I don't have those 3 that you are looking for, my Britains zoo is no where near that complete. I can however recommend a dealer who has the pieces you are looking for, he is agreat guy to deal with but his prices are at the high end of the market. He is located in the UK. PM me and I will give you his details.
