How many figures constitute a... (1 Viewer)

For me it's not about how many I can collect. Soldiers just look cooler in groups. The bigger the army the better! I think if I spread my collection around the house I wouldn't enjoy them as much.

If my "soldier room" was overloaded with soldiers I could see myself selling some to make room for new finds. It's not an issue yet.

On the other hand maybe I'll decide to let my collection spill into other rooms... I convert the refrigerator into a chilled display case?

I'll have to run that by the WIFE first!

That sounds like a great spot for the russian front diorama!!!:p

I think it depends on what you collect, 200 plastic figures are not a large collection, infact that would be small, but 200 metal I would consider medium to large.

I have thousands of plastic and maybe 700 metal, but 600 of the metal are 25mm, I consider my collection to be in the medium range.

Gentle Friends,

To those of you who have proposed a numerical or quantitative answer to my original question: Thank you! You have provided me with the perceptual data with which I may now more accurately describe my collection. In case you are wondering, my collection meets every proposed definition of a medium sized collection that is contained on this thread. In fact, my collection qualifies as a large collection by a few of the offered definitions. Again, thank you for your insightful and thoughtful comments.

To those who proposed a more philosophical or qualitative response: Thank you as well. I totally agree that the satisfaction one experiences with his/her collection should not depend on the number of figures one owns. The measure of pleasure, joy, and fulfillment that a collection brings transcends the mere count of the number of figures contained in any collection. And,...that is the way it should be.

To those who brought wit to the issue, thank you too. Wit and wisdom frequently make excellent partners.

And, to those who experienced distress resulting from my question, please understand that my motive was only to resolve a personal issue related to my collecting toy soldiers. I have struggled with knowing an accurate or correct descriptor with which to communicate the size of my collection. The considered responses have provided me with much greater confidence in choosing the proper label to describe my collection.

Thank you all. I appreciate the time you took to provide me with the best of your thinking, the depth of your wit, and the benefit of your viewpoints!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)
