I was contacted by a new collector and he is looking for tips and tricks on how to best clean his K&C figures in the event they get dusty or dirty!
Any best practices out there??

Thank you!

Well, in my opinion the best thing is not to clean them at all. And KC ts are sometimes so bright that some dust can only improve their look making them more realistic. Eventually, just blow on them...

I picked up a pack of makeup brushes from the dollar store. The must useful was the big blush brush.

This advice caters to all toy soldiers however :)

Julie,

I agree with Scott. You can also use that aerosol that blows air for cleaning keyboards. If I have something that's really dusty, I use a cloth, slightly moist but not wet.

Hi Julie,

Like Scott, I use makeup brushes.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Soft brush is the best . If very dusty I use my Badger air-brush to get rid of the dust
guy:)

Like many collectors, I use a set of makeup brushes. But if a model is really dusty, I just buy a new one. :wink2:

A few steps to keep your figures and vehicles at their best. Just my own thoughts on the topic:

When possible display in an enclosed display cabinet, such as a glass curio cabinet. Many of these have lights on the inside. Make sure the figures are not too close to the light source.
10"-12" away and on low setting when possible. Keep the figures away from direct sunlight as it will fade the paint over time. Make sure your own hands are clean and freshly washed
before handling your collectibles. Even the softest brush will eventually cause abrasions on painted surfaces. I would opt for high pressure air if needed.
The least amount of contact between the figures and handling/cleaning is the best rule of thumb to follow........IMO

Another vote for the very soft make-up brush. Wouldn't use cleaners of any sort, even water, which can work it's way under any paint bubble or crack that might exist, especially on figures that may not have been primed. -- Al

If a figure has not been primed, cleaning will be the least of your troubles.

I agree, the most useful is a good size soft brush which will get the dust off without any problems!

I just dunk them in soapy water, then rinse. Blow the water off, then off to the display case. Simple.

I use thinners and the paint comes up squeaky clean and gives a good shine . . Chris.:salute::
