How to easily identify Early, Mid & Late Model Tigers (1 Viewer)

Early:

  • Cylindrical Commanders Cupola with flat hatch that opens vertically.
  • Rubber rimmed road wheels. Consists of 4 rows. Outer wheels of the first 2 rows removed for transport by rail.

In transport configuration

Mid (Jul '43):

  • Cast Commanders Cupola with domed hatch that opens horizontally. Includes ring for mounting AA machinegun. Similar cupola as used on Panther and Tiger II. Introduced starting with turret no. 392 Jul '43
  • Rubber rimmed road wheels. Consists of 4 rows. Outer wheels of the first 2 rows removed for transport by rail.

Late (Feb '44):

  • Cast Commanders Cupola with domed hatch that opens horizontally. Includes ring for mounting AA machinegun. Similar cupola as used on Panther and Tiger II. Introduced starting with turret no. 392 Jul '43
  • Steel (rubber saving) road wheels. Consists of 3 rows. No wheels removed for transport. Introduced Feb '44.
