how to make a diorama base for ZULU war (1 Viewer)

i have a table about 1m x 1m and i wannt to display my Zulu war.
So can you tell me some suggestions what to use,how to make?
I was thinking that i cut a hard paper,than put some glue,than maybe glue some little stones,after that i can paint this stones and hard paper and put figures on top.
But i do not know how to put grass on this base because i do not wannt to use real grass.So where can i get grass,maybe some bush,....to put also in this base?
Is there any shop where i can buy some diorama pieces,some colours(paints),rocks,grass,....?
Or is there any display posible to buy that i already have this grass and stones,...so that i can buy and i just put my figures and buildings on top?
Maybe some of your diorama zulu war, for ideas?
