{sm3} {sm3} {sm3} WOW! / Incredible work of art .... I have so many questions I don't even know where to begin.

I bet I have looked at the photos for 20 to 30 minutes without blinking!!! The dock blocks, the boardwalk, the buildings are superb.
Can you tell me if they are all home grown or made?

I can't wait to see more. --- VERY well done, sir!! :salute:: :salute::

Hi Larry, yes all home made or scratch built. The little dock crane is a verlinden resin model. The blocks and stone buildings I cast from ultracal from some molds I had. The decking / planking is 3mm balsa wood with the leading edges sanded for effect and bolt holes added. I'll post some more pics with a German theme tomorrow... :)

What a super fantastic dio You have there. You rank up there with K&C's dio builders. :DKeep up the great work and keep those excellent photos coming. Were did You get all the extra accessories from? Thanks for posting. {bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Apart from the very talented modelling skills you have, your photographs have to be some of the most professionally taken on this forum - they are just so clear!

Hi Mr. Colt, most of the boxes, crates and drums are K&C, Verlinden or John Jenkins, the small dock crane is a verlinden resin kit and the small furnace building is a reality in scale resin kit, the rope coils I made myself. Everything else is basically scratch built. I did search the internet for photos of docks and wharfs for some inspiration. Thanks for your comments :)

Hi Everyone, thanks for all the great comments, they are greatly appreciated. The dio took about 5 (long) days to build including the castings for the dock blocks and buildings. My beautiful wife Shelly helped out quite a bit in the constructiion and suggested a number of ideas that were implemented. The dio without figures or vehicles weighs about 13kg. I did use a few items from Verlinden and Reality in Scale and although these companies produce 1/35 and not 1/30 they can be used quite well in 1/30 dioramas. Anyway I'm glad everyone likes it and I hope it serves as good inspiration for those who want to have a go themselves.

Thanks
Marc :salute::

What molds do you use for casting your bicks...are the Hirst Arts?

also...how do you like the Ultracal plaster...have you ever tried Hyrdostone?

Hi Mike, yep Hirst, the ultracal is quite good heaps stronger than the plaster, easy to work with. I usually use a mix of 1 part water to 2 parts ultracal. I will look into the hydrostone and see if I can get it here.

Cheers
