I got this psycho squirrel in my neighborhood... (1 Viewer)

so I got this crazy squirrel in my neighborhood...

he has declared war on the grackle birds...

grackle birds are commonly referred to as "nuisance birds"...

they are very social and sometimes extremely aggressive...

if you tamper with one...
they all flock together to attack you...

so this squirrel...

one day a grackle swooped down on him...
unprovoked...
when he was standing in the middle of the street...

it scared him...
but when the grackle swooped at him again...

the squirrel jumped 3 feet in the air to fight him...

for real...
just like Super Squirrel...

so this squirrel and the grackles...
now it's turned into a daily battle...

the squirrel...
he lives in the top of the 60 foot palm tree across the street from me...

I think the grackle may have nested there and the squirrel has encroached on his territory...

he hangs onto the side...
about 30 feet off the ground...

when the grackles fly at him...
he leaps at them in mid air...

he always seems to land on the ground okay...

it is friggin hysterical...^&grin

the squirrel has never actually caught a grackle...
as of yet...

but he's constant on the prowl...

I'm rooting for the squirrel...

Sunday we got a cold snap...

down to 35...

lit my fireplace...

today is 75...^&confuse

they say if you don't like the weather here...

wait 15 minutes and it will change...

Squirrels are tree rats.

They ravage gardens around here, vegetable or flower. They're worse than humans, for wastefulness. I've seen them pluck a tomato, take a bite, and throw it away, or tear flower blossoms apart, seemingly for the heck of it. They defoliate trees to build their nests, they attack birds and eat the eggs and young, and they're also cannibals, eating their own young, or even other adult squirrels. The one positive is they provide backyard target practice.

I'm rootin' for the grackles in this one.
