From Aggie99 to "Trash Man"...haha.

I have found that while (like anyone) I too enjoy a very fine miniature....I have gotten a "kick" out of painting and fixing up really cheap plastic soldiers.

It started a few months back when I bought a bag of "made in china" soldiers at the dollar-store. These were horrible quality, but I was using them to practice my painting with (didnt want to mess up a good miniature just to test out some primer or paint, etc.).

I spent some time cleaning one of them up (with a box cutter), cutting off the excess plastic. I then used a primer on him, and painted him the best I could. I thought he turned out pretty good. I then made a base for him to stand on, and added ground-cover to the base.

In the end, he looked pretty sharp (considering where he came from and what he really was). To the average person, who maybe doenst know anything about toy soldiers, they would probably think he was half-way decent little figure.

So...while I have since also gotten into TSSD, etc. I have also enjoyed fixing up a small army of these "trash" men. Maybe I should change my screen name! hahaha

Good idea on practicing your painting / trying out new materials or techniques!

Congratulations, that's a good idea! That's like using old homecasts, if you work in metal.

Who cares what the raw material is, if you get a good result!

Now, please show us some pics!

Prost!
Brad

Thanks for the encouragement.

I will post a few pics once I get the figures "photo ready"....I only have one TOTALLY complete, and one that is close. (I just got back into the hobby recently). I have several that are about 1/2 finished, so hopefully I will have something worth showing fairly soon.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures. Good results are great but more importantly, your enjoying yourself and I think that is what counts.
