I have been on here for a while...
and most of the people that know me...
know I prefer the Ancients...
and have only ventured my collecting as far as the Sudan Wars from a mechanized military engagement standpoint...
I never really cared for the more contemporary wars...

and while this is old news to most of you...
I just couldn't resist these anymore...
I have jealously seen so many people collecting them and showing them off on here...
that I finally broke down and bought them...

I couldn't be more happier when I opened the boxes today...
these are so beautiful...

I have always loved figures that tell a story...
and every time I look at this grouping...
I just feel there is a untold story in John's designing these figures in these poses...

these figures really speak to me when I look at them...
I see a grouping of figures returning from a battle engagement...
a losing battle...a severe defeat...
nursing their wounded and clinging to the side of the St. Chamond for protection to help them back home...

not a weapon pointed...all in full retreat...that's what I imagine the story is to me...

I have no idea where I will display them...
I will have to start displaying some of my collection upstairs as I have run out of room downstairs...
anyway...here are a few pics...

5 Stars for John Jenkins here...

Hi Mike,
Great display you've got there!! Glad you're pleased with them, I know I am.
Hopefully my Feb/Mar figures will be here soon!

Welcome to the WWI madness Michael . . . . Nicely done . . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Just so you know Mike, my willpower is stronger. I'm not collecting WWI (except for the FT-17 tank, the French 75 gun and crew, and the 6 inch gun and crew) :wink2:^&grin

Stay strong Mike. If I can resist, so can you. ^&grin

Brother Terry...

I'm weak....^&grin

I'm a weak man...

God help me cause I can't help myself...

Pete...Mike...thanks for the nice comment end especially all the help in getting these sorted out for me...with A's...B's...2 St Chamonds...one retired...drivers that only work with one...this was a tad confusing to a newbie...thanks for your council and recommendations...it really helped me decide what to get...

How the mighty have fallen^&grin, all credit to you Mike, you did not do this lightly. They are the best though and only fitting one of John's biggest supporters is now on board, despite a space issue. Some out of the box thinking required now, to put your talent to a fitting backdrop building as you are known for. Once you have sold that fantastic castle you will have all the room you need to cater for this series. Will watch this space for developmentsRobin,

Nice set-up, as always, Mike. Welcome to the Great War and the Horizon Blue. It strikes me that a uniform color change to mustard khaki would give you FFL for the trenches.:wink2: -- Al

WW II is so yesterday bro. Come to where the action is :wink2:

Mike,

I see you have gone over to the dark side, but it is understandable --- John's WWI pieces are by far his best work. As a grouping, the WWI figures do tell a poignant story.

Luke...I am your father...^&grin

Ken...I never thought I would deviate to a mechanized war...I like swords...axes...tomahawks...bow and arrows...crude weapons...but these figures just grabbed me so hard...all these figures are so versatile that they can be displayed in so many ways...and they are soooooooooo pretty...and agreed...as a grouping they tell a little story...

and one "cartoon style"...

Love all your pics, Mike!

BTW, did you produce that effect by editing the digital contrast on the image (or some other technique perhaps)?

Moe...I use Kodak Easy Share software that came with my cheap click and shoot Kodak camera to make small edits to my pictures...it's nothing compared to Photoshop...you can crop...lighten...darken...etc...but no real special effects per say...there is a tab called "fun effects"...that gives an option to convert the pictures into a "cartoon book style" photo...I like it because the colors come out so vivid and usually have one on my desktop...I did a fun project of a cartoon style short story on Robert Rogers and the Rangers a few years ago...I will try to find the link on here to show you what it can do...

Moe...this will give you an idea of what I'm talking about...

http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/fo...e5&highlight=the+adventures+of+Rogers+Rangers

The-Adventures-of-Robert-Rogers-A-Comic-Book...

this was my first attempt doing it and I over "comic booked" them by pressing the effect button 3 times instead of only once...
there by tripling the comic book effect...
at the time I thought it looked good...
but I wish I had only pressed it once like in the French Pouli photo...

I learned...^&grin

Beautiful set up and figures Mike. They do look tempting... but I've got so many things going now, it's not possible for me to start a new line of collecting... or is it? :)

yea Duke...that...plus me having no room to display them was exactly what I said before I bought them...^&grin

Now all we have to do is equip the Greek Helmet you are wearing in your signature shot with a ventilator to confirm your turning to the dark side.
