My Rorke's Drift diorama is complete but I now have an urge to add a dog to it. Surgeon Reynolds, the official medico who was at the Drift during the battle, had a pet dog named apparently named Pip. As well as providing companionship, it was claimed that during the evening of the battle, Pip would perch on one of the barricade walls and bark when he detected Zulus creeping up.

So any suggestions as to where I might find an appropriately scaled dog, preferably a fox terrier or similar.

W Britains set 20042 British Surgeon Reynolds Operating on Corporal Allen includes the dog; however, it is retired.

I think KC did a set of dogs?

Rightly or wrongly, these 3 dogs are in my Zulu displays. Robin.

I also recommend the dogs from K&C. I use them in any other photo. They come in gloss, too

W. Britain’s makes this one that I do not have in Matt.

Trophy of Wales produced a "Pip the dog" figure in the first Defence of Rorkes Drift Big Box set but it was not available to purchase separately from Trophy. I did manage to find a single "Pip the dog" figure that had been part of the D.O.R.D. set, I passed him on to my good friend Damian who wanted to add him to his great AZW Trophy collection

Stay safe

Hi. If you study portrait photos of B company taken after the action Pip is clearly visible. You may be aware he was Goodwyn- Austen’s dog. He of course was killed at isandlwana and had asked Reynolds the Surgeon to look after Pip for a while. King and Country do a set of small dogs, one of them could be Pip, you might have to whip out your paintbrush and have to buy the set. I think you can get 1/32 scale unpainted dogs from the Russian federation on EBay. Good luck.

Yes, the King and Country ones look good. Many thanks.
