I need some new 1:32 ww2 news!!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

I'd really like to have some Marines armed with Reisings, Johnson Rifles and Johnson LMG's. There's plenty of pictures on the 'net of these weapons being used by Uncle Sam's Misguided Children during WWII, and it's a subject matter that's been overlooked. I'd imagine that every soldier sculptor is a little tired of Thompsons, Garands and BAR's, and would like to try their hand at something different.

Better toss in plenty of '03 Springfields,a few Boys A-T rifles(Marine Raider Bns only) and a push/drag me hard 37mm A-T gun(which was used til'war's end).
Except for the 37mm,all were out of Marine inventory by Tarawa.

P.S. Try to find an original Johnson Rifle for under 2 grand today.

I'm with you on a little more attention in this hobby towards 'The real man's war'..The Pacific.(Oh,yeah..the Japs didn't have Tiger Tanks which fully
explains the paucity of Pacific pieces .....alliteration runs wild).

So Shootist....may your aim be true. Take care.

Neat ideas, but the time frame is pretty limiting. The Reising was a neat firearm that just didn't cut it in USMC use so they were pulled out after Guadalcanal. The Johnson LMG and Johnson rifle were only issued to the USMC "Paramarine" battalion. The Johnson rifle was another neat firearm that just wasn't the rifle that the USMC needed. Another tivia is that I don't think any of the "toy soldier" guys has ever done either a Paramarine or a member of the Devil's Brigade with a Johnson LMG. The First Special Service Force got a bunch of "Johnny Guns" from the USMC and took them to Italy. The Boys was issued to the Marine Raiders and to the original Army Ranger battalions but was superseded by the bazooka. The Marines went to Guadalcanal with the M1903 rifle, but during the rest/recuperation of the 1st MarDiv they received M1s and carbines. The 1943 movie "Guadalcanal Diary" is still a fun one to watch as they showed the Marines with M1903 rifles (and the long M1905 bayonet) as well as M1928 Thompsons with a couple Resings being shown. The guys going into the first Solomons invasion didn't even have 100% issue of the green "utilities", some guys wore the khaki cotton uniform. A set of Marines from Guadalcanal could have a few troops with the M1903, one with a BAR, another with a Reising and a team with an M1917A1 heavy machine gun.

Side note: Where are the plastic figures to make 60mm mortar teams? This was the infantry company commander's "artillery" from pre-WW2 through Korea. Used by both the US Army and the USMC. I remember a nice set in metal by Britains, but I sure can't recall a 60mm mortar and crew in plastic. A very common item that is missing!

OK, if you're going to take that route, I say "US JUNGLE FIGHTERS"
with Boone hats, back packs, machetes, pack mule and the weapons you speak of.
Will post photos.

How about US MOUNTAIN TROOPS???!!

P1010582.JPG
Made with the crudely sculpted FOV US PARA. TR.
I had to whittle down their fat arms.
Unless I could find a decent use for them, I was going to banish them from my collection.
Now, I love them!

Wish more Companies would produce NAVAL Landing parties depicting figures from Mid to Late 19th Century(Boxer Rebellion especially) and 20th Century although AIP has some decent sets.Regarding WW2 Japanese would like a set of Japanese Sailors depicted as they were in Battle of Shanghai.

What were the Japanese wearing?

Ya cool.
I considered the blue naval outfits but chose the more exciting white outfits instead.

I LIKE.
I see some new sets I've never seen before!
I've known about them for a while, but aren't they unusually undersized?
Can you show the Italians standing next their AIRFIX counterparts?
